The tone of recent threads have got me thinking. The term "hate" to me seems to be thrown around very loosely these days particularly towards the current President and the person who very well might be the next President. Both sides are quick to accuse each other of being consumed with hatred of the focus of the other while at the same time not really doing much to disabuse the notion that they really do hate. What I'm wondering is for those of you who have opposed Bush to ask yourself do you really hate him and for those of you who oppose Hillary Clinton do you really hate her? I can understand that there are policies that you don't agree with and think are taking the country in the wrong direction but that isn't the same thing as hate.. I'm not posting this as a poll but am curious to see what people think and not reduce this to a yes or no answer.
I feel such emotions are best reserved for co-workers and close relatives. As for W and HRC: 1) Very little they've done, especially Hillary, has affected me directly, yet. If I were a War widow or anti-abortionist the circumstances might be different. 2) Their actions are probably more influenced by their party and poll numbers than by their own convictions. Whatever blame can be heaped on them probably has to be shared with a lot of other people: advisors, supporters, et al. So on an individual basis, their behavior might not rise to the level of true abhorrence or despicability. 3) We know very little about these people personally; only the info that was filtered and amplified to shape our perception of them professionally. 4) They're doing their job. Ask a criminal defense lawyer, corporate executive or military general if they've had to do heinous or irrational things to meet their objectives or placate their superiors.
1. Bush has done a lot to affect all of us directly. If not for the Iraq disaster, oil and gas would be considerably lower. I could create a long list here but you get my point. Of course, war widows have been affected more than most of us. 2. Wrong again. The Iraq disaster, his failed immigration agenda and other actions have proven to me Bush is married to agendas more than party pressure. Hillary has been distancing herself from the "core" of the Dem party ever since being elected Senator. It's part of her plan to position herself in the middle in order to be more electable in Nov 2008. Hillary may have fewer core beliefs than Bill. I don't hate Hillary or Bush. I hate Bush's presidency more than I can express. It has been major a catastrophe. I've hated Hillary's lack of principle and candor since Bill Clinton's first term. The thought of Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton is depressing. The electorate should just say no!
I despise both Bush and Hillary. I despise Bush more so. I don't have the personal attachment to either one to hate them. Though with Bush it is very close.
That's because she's never accomplished anything of substance, other than make a few too many trips to the Golden Corral carving station
texxx, in your absence we've already rode your buddy into the ground for supporting the most inept president in the last fifty years and turning around and saying hillary's never done anything. you might want to put that talking point card back in your pocket. just a friendly warning.
Bush has only been considered the most inept president by the bitter liberals who are still sore about their candidates losing elections, including large liberal masses in the now-ubiquitous media who attempt to tear down W every chance they get. The most telling facts about W: 1) War on Terror - He has been a powerful, strong leader to bring us through the worst attack on the US mainland. The BEST metric to use to measure it is how many times we've been attacked on our own soil since declaring the war. That would be ZERO. An overwhelming victory. We've been safe. 2) My personal issue - my taxes. They're lower, as they should be. I see the democrats are already scheming to implement the largest tax increase in history. Despicable.
and the worst attack on the mainland was under his watch. you're going to need it because your dollar can't buy crap because he's running up the deficit at a record rate.
I'm not a liberal or a Democrat and believe Bush has been a disaster. Believe it or not, people who disagree with you don't fit into a small neat box. But I'm sure thinking they do makes it easier to rationalize in your mind that Bush is a good president.
This post is a good example of what I'm trying to get at. Where political differences are extremely personalized to the point that if you had no knowledge of who Hillary Clinton was you might get the feeling that there was a personal offense that she had committed. I don't want to single bigtexxx out as this is done by both sides nor do I want to say this is historically unique but am more curious have people personalized their political opposition to the point where they truly do hate someone.
I love N00Bs who think they can come in and lecture others. Hilarious. Love the N00Bs who take the "holier than thou - know it all" approach....love 'em Slick Hilly's angry, condescending nature is indeed a personal offense. She's never accomplished jack squat and shouldn't even be in discussion for a leadership role if it weren't for marrying Slick Willie.
Good one! You got me good... So you do truly hate Hillary Clinton? I am curious about why you feel you must personalize your opposition.
Since you have been missing for a while, there are a lot of changes on the bbs. This Noob is actually an oldtimer who changed his name lol.
I don't hate Bush as a person, it's his bad policies and terrible judgments in character that I find extremely distasteful.
ahhhh another day on the D&D... hillary this... bush that... hillary = evil... bush = idiot son of satan... round and round we go...
