I know it is better to just walk away, but sometimes you just wish ill things upon these people.

The world's smartest man is a bouncer. So you better think twice about degrading them.

I like them when they kick the drunken and loud idiots out.

Some are jerks at the door but once you get past you should worry unless your getting too drunk.

Bouncers are like cops. I don't want to see one until I need one.

I have a good friend who was a bouncer until weeks ago. Some are alright, some arent is probably what he'd say. But they have to have a bit of "I dont care" attitude, at high or low levels depending on the location.

He'd say they're outnumbered 200 to 1, and out of that WILL be at least 20 bumbling drunks to deal with, some belligerent. And that the clubs want them to cover more ground on their job other than just show drunk the door. Like being extra courteous to some VIP tippers, being strict on some dress codes lenient on others, not being overly retaliatory when even violently provoked by a customer, show favoritism toward certain kind of people, etc.

He said one time he refused to let a guy in cuz the club was too full. And cuz the guy was butt hurt by it, the guy called the fire department on the club. So they can catch the club for being over occupancy and write the club up  Bouncers are identifiable, though equally douchy people are hidden within the crowds.

Sounds like a douche to me. If its too packed but he is letting everyone else in then let the dude in. If its a hazard kudos to the guy who called it in.

There's not always a long line there, but that night there was. The guy was part of a throng of people outside waiting to get in, wasnt like it was just him and the bouncer.

Plus in the entry process there's usually countless people pleading things like "My friend is already in there, let me in" that they have to decide if they're lying or not. Or they're even bribing the bouncer with cash to get in, which they're not supposed to accept or they lose their job. It was a "Dont you know who I am" thing, cuz he didnt get what he wanted him using his connections to higher ups to show he had pull. (This is some faux-ritzy place)

When you reach a limit, you reach a limit. Its like if Clutchfans servers get overloaded and some people cant get in, and someone reporting Clutch to the net authorities for not allowing him access.

If I was sober making minimum wage to watch others have fun I'd be pissed and hate myself. With that said some bouncers are cool but they have too much power and some like to instigate and look for fights.

Bouncers make minimum wage? I've always had the idea that they make a decent amount. $10-15/hr at the very least.

Bouncers are people just like everyone else. Some are cool some aren't. But you gotta remember, there might be 5 of them having to watch 800+ people. Most of which are drunk and acting fools, and you gotta decide who you think is gonna cross the line. Your job is to protect everyone in the crowd. If you get hit you can't hit back. You can only restrain. Its like working in the porta potty business, you just catch crap all day and you cant do anything about it.

    Here's my bouncer story:

My wife, another friend and myself are at a club. It's one of those split level places, with country music on the bottom floor and rock-n-roll at the top. The stairs to the top are by the door. So, the three of us are upstairs, rocking out, dancing, having a good time. We are expecting two more people to join us, so after about an hour I go downstairs to walk around the country level looking for our friends.

As I walking around the lower level, a bouncer approaches me. He says "Tuck your shirt in". I say I have been here over an hour, upstairs, and no one has said anything about my shirt. He says I have to have my shirt tucked in. I say ok, I'll do it, and then I go back upstairs and dance some more, never having tucked my shirt in.

Another half hour goes by, my shirt is still not tucked in, and I make another pass around the lower level looking for my friends. I get all the way around, I'm two step up the stairs headed back up, when suddenly I am grabbed from behind and thrown - yes, I was flying thru the air -down the steps and out the front door. I landed hard, and was stunned for a second, I didn't know what had happened. That's when I hear his voice. "I told you to tuck your shirt in!"

Instantly enraged, I stood up and ran at the bouncer, just as two of HPD's finest steps between me and the door. They grab as I am screaming at the bouncer. I am calling him every name in the book, trying to get to him and the cops restrain me. They pull me to the side and ask why I was thrown out. I told them, and they both have the same "that's all?" look on their faces. I was still screaming at the bouncer when they tell me to cool down or I'm going to jail.

So I calm down some, I ask to see the manager. Meanwhile the cops tell me I am not going back in, and is there anyone I need to contact inside. I tell them my wife's name, and they page her. The manager never shows up, and I am waiting for my wife and friend to come down. My other friends show up at this time, and we decide to go somewhere else as soon as my wife comes out.

Here's the kicker: It takes about 10 minutes for my wife to get out. Why? Because she runs into the bouncer, whom she knows from high school, and starts up a conversation with him!! They talk for ten minutes before he tells her the reason she is paged to the door. Once he realized she was married to me, he deliberately kept the conversation going to delay her getting to the door.

To be honest, I was lucky I didn't go to jail that night. But the sheer stupidity of throwing me out of the club after I had been there for 90 minutes with my shirt out, and the force with which I was thrown, I guess the cops had sympathy for me.

i would hate bouncers if i went to the kind of bars/clubs where they keep lines out front and pick and choose who gets in or bars/clubs where they make you tuck in your shirt.

i see a ton of live music, but i cant say ive ever had a negative encounter w/ a bouncer.

Bouncers have a job to do. Stay out of their way and for the most part they'll stay out of yours.

Literally being thrown out for not having a tucked in shirt is ridiculous, and I would have expected a second warning, but Behad didn't comply with what he was told to do.

Unfortunately you have to see them when you go in and they just walk around.

The bouncers at douchey clubs are usually douches.

Just go to regular bars, don't spend time waiting in line at some Dallas-style club in downtown just so you can feel cool and validated.

What kinda club enforces having your shirt tucked in? Are they adhering to the HISD school dress code? WTF?

Escapade does that **** too. I can't stand that club.

Bouncers are insecure douche-bags on a power trip.

A second warning that didn't involved being tossed (literally) out of the club would have been nice. But I was so pissed because I had been in the upstairs part for 90 minutes without anyone saying a thing to me.
