The Knicks suck. They know only about the Rockets because most live in Houston or the Houston area if they have inside info.
Uh, yes, I have a little tidbit on the Knicks... Apparently Scott Layden feels his team SUCKS and would like nothing more than to get rid of Spreewell, Houston, Camby, Thomas, Ward, Anderson, Knight, Eisley, Harrington, Jackson, Postell, Robinson, Spencer, and Weatherspoon. Oh wait. That's the entire team. Ooh. That was just a joke, but now I feel sorry for you. I mean, just look at that roster. Hey, I've got an idea - howabout trading Clarence Weatherspoon to the New York Liberty for Teresa Weatherspoon and their 2003 first-rounder? That would undoubtedly improve your team.
Get Teresa and keep Clarence. Can't you just see it? "Weatherspoon passes to Weatherspoon... she goes up and under... Wow!! Unbelievable!!!"
Gary St.Jean would give him a run for his money. I'm trying to figure how a guy like St.Jean gets fired and advances in the career ladder.
Basically, the Knicks are in the same position we were in 3 years ago. Would like to trade but they do not have any assets. They have good players but their contracts are inflated. However, the Eastern conference is terrible and I bet they make the playoffs next year.
Hehe! Nah, just feel like wondering away from home a little. This is definitely the best site out there. I am just lucky that I am a Rocket fan!
Here is a Dallas Maverick forum for your wandering pleasure http://www.dallas-mavs.com/forums/index.cfm?NoCookies=Yes Clutch, feel free to move this to the NBA Forum.
No s***!!! Why do these horrible GM's keep their jobs year after year, while coaches get fired on a yearly basis? Maybe Krause and St. Jean have mob ties that I don't know about that keep them in their respective jobs. After years of St. Jean trading top sirloin for salsbury and then pissing off the salsbury and having to pick up a can of spam, you'd think the owner would figure out there's a problem.
St. Jean has only been in charge at Golden State for the past 2 1/2 years, since PJ Carlesimo was fired. (PJ had final say over personnel, just as Rick Pitino did in Boston even though Chris Wallace was officially the GM.) Since that time, he's made the following trades: The #8 pick in the 2000 draft for Larry Hughes. Hughes got screwed by the luxury tax & Jason Richardson being available to GS in the next draft, but it's not like anyone in Oakland is kicking themselves over not having Chris Mihm. Donyell Marshall for Danny Fortson. Neither plays much D, but Fortson's one of the top rebounders in the league, is younger, and provides more toughness. As with Hughes, a reasonable gamble. Jason Caffey for Bob Sura. A total steal, considering that Caffey's contract is worse than Sura's. George Karl is definitely still kicking himself. Corie Blount and Vonteego Cummings for a future lottery-protected 1st-round pick. Blount and Cummings were going to be cut anyway, and St. Jean got a future 1st-rounder out of them. Not a franchise-saving deal, but still clever work. Marc Jackson for Dean Garrett. OK, all they managed to do was give away Jackson's contract, but that's more than Minnesota will be able to do -- and they already want to unload Jackson. Beyond that, St. Jean is almost unanimously credited with a great draft in 2001. Not, I'll grant, an Executive of the Year-caliber resume (though IMO it would have been if Hughes and Fortson had worked out better), but certainly not deserving of a pink slip. I mean, it's not like he traded for an injury-prone, overpaid Glen Rice or anything.
