Certainly, I like the fact that the Rockets are trying to make Toyota Center more rowdy, but, I sometimes feel like the enthusiasm of the Red Rowdies is a little manufactured or forced. It's almost like they're trying too hard. They're not the same as the Dog Pound or some of the other loyal fan groups where you can see the rabid devotion. I cringe when the cameras turn to the Red Rowdies or when the sideline reporter show them because it just feels forced. It must be really annoying for the fans that have to sit around them. I just find it lame that the Rockets had to manufacture a rabid fan group, whereas the Dog Pound, Steeler fans and Packer fans were started by the fans themselves.

    I kind of agree.

The whole thing kind of failed. Most people at the games still don't get into the game.

I can see what you're saying but I'm pretty sure that those guys are loving every minute of it and hardly feel forced. They feed off of eachother and really feel like they can make a difference with the atmosphere they create. They are loyal fans and are there because they want to be there. Also, when buying tickets, you are informed where the red rowdies sit, so most people that sit around them already know what they're in for.

You must feel that I'm annoying at games then. I honestly cheer on the Rockets on every point. I really enjoy watching the Rockets live but financially I can't pay for every home game. /: I think it's pretty awesome that the Red Rowdies actually get free season tickets to good seats. If we didn't have so many companies in Houston buying loads and loads of season tickets down where the good spots were we would see more enthusiasm in our fans. :[

I'm damn happy for the Red Rowdies , almost every game I go to I feel like I'm the only dumbass encouraging errrr trying to encourage the team in my aisle. Eventually some follow in on the chants but for the most part all the lames there are there to drink, converse, and leave early. I do understand where ya coming from though , but honestly I feel like they are twice as hype because the rest of the crowds (for the most part) are lame , and way to quiet.

I'm just thankful that nobody is calling Luis, Coca Cola Scola. That would be the dumbest nickname in the history of professional sports.

As far as the Rowdies, why would you criticize a group of fans that actually makes noise and has an obvious passion for the team? We need more of that, manufactured or not.

If you want to pick on fans, start with the ones in the lower courtside sections that show up late, leave early and would rather text on their Blackberries than show an ounce of enthusiasm.

they are doing their best to make the place more...let's say, rockets friendly.

but it's sad that some ungrateful people prefer to sit queitly all game rather than cheering for their team, AND, they come back and bash the fans who do so.

    not cool.

Maxwell's reaction was strikingly similar to Artest's against Dallas (I think it was Dallas).

Or, I guess more appropriately I should say Artest's reaction was similar to Maxwell's.

I already pointed this out in another thread where the rookies got so confused by the complexness of 'would the uniforms change' that they just defaulted as hate Yao thread cause he writes too much stuff thread

Les Alexander has messed up Rockets traditions in exchange for greed
that's why he keeps changing the uniforms, that why when Yao became a Rocket, the team turned Red again, that's why we have so much reserved seating for the corporations instead of the fans who can afford going

Tickets were expensive back then too, but regular fans seemed to be able to splurge for a game to sit in the good seats

I'm all for money, but not at the expense of tradition. The Rowdies are great, but we didn't need the back in the day. we were all rowdies!

dammit, is there anything absurd? this is business, my boys. what the hell do you let the cameras aim at when a time-out is called? Just let them take vedios of audiences' grief faces with a squezzing big smile? no noise, no game. If there was no noise in the gym, i would rather stay home to watch the game through TV, at least my dog Jimmy can make some noises when tmac hits a three or yao gets rejected. :D My only single regret is just that the noise in the madison garden squar is not as noisy as i expected. Look at what the Utah j*zz's home looks like, their opponents are always feared back even before the games begins by the fans' untoleratable noises.

I understand the need for rabid fanaticism, and I appreciate their presence. Of course it is manufactured, and it would have to be, kinda like suspension of disbelief when reading fiction.

They're doing their job, tickets are their pay, I just wish the lower bowl ticketholders at least held an interest in the Rockets, or even basketball to say the least. Like if Stern were to publicly address the crowd in the TC, would anyone even boo him?

I wish NBA games could accomodate to tailgating, that way we could see some real fans get truly rowdy. Booing, everyone wearing the same color, chanting without cues, the works.

Lower level ticket holders make Houston look so bad. I don't even consider it a home court advantage when the Rockets play in Houston.

ya like wat the poster above me said the red rowdies are forcing it. they were BOUGHT. theyre gettin paid, in ticket season holders, to cheer for the boring, lament, stale, stagnant, handicapped houston rockets.

and in the beggining of the season when shane and others are out, guys playin hurt, new roster, bla bla bla the rox are gonna be a boring team to watch. SPECIALLY WHEN TMAC AND YAO ARENT PLAYINT AT THEIR FULLEST!!! but that is expected and so is both of them getting out of their "start of the season slumps"

in december the rowdies should be gettin the stadium rowdy as rowdy can be. i can guarantee that...team has to win games for that to happen tho and that is wat they will do

maybe it is a little manufactured but having the crappy fans we have doesn't help it look any better.

I'm pissed that the lower bowl is always half filled, but the Red rowdies are stuck in the baseline uppers. It'd be quit a scene if they move the Rowdies to center court lower bowl. Can you imagine how crazy that'd look on TNT or ESPN??? Talk about college playoff atmosphere..

The Rowdies exist because everywhere else in the lower bowl is dead. Period. Oil barons need to know that it's okay to cheer. And are they really any more manufactured than the Texian Army and El Batallon just because the team buys them tickets?

It really is all about ticket prices. You fill the lower bowl with Rockets fans, you get the Summit. You fill the lower bowl with the oil baron crowd, you get Toyota Center. If Les lowered the price of lower bowl tickets, blah blah blah. Just go to the thread on TC enthusiasm.

Dallas is the same way. Their entire lower bowl is the cocaine and boob job crowd.
