Coming home from church today and in my Z and here comes this huge Dodge Ram 4 x 4. It would have taken 3 seconds for him to wait for me to go by, but this dip**** roars into my path - so sensing this, I move over to the right lane only to see him cut me off there as well!

Well I am pretty pissed, so I instinctively honked my horn at him and sorta threw my hands up in the air. He looked over at me and gave me a weasel-like look - one of those that he knew he shouldn't have done it, but what are you going to do about it? Well, nothing happened other than that, but I got to thinking about how I have been lucky that I have never gotten into it with someone on the road.

I am an aggressive driver, but like to think I know what I am doing. Nothing pisses me off more than for people to pull right out in front of me, especially when no one is behind me. But in these days, it seems that if you honk a horn at someone, they will chase you and may even shoot you.

I decided I better keep something in my car - just in case. No, not a gun - but I do have a ballbat. I just have to remind myself to keep my cool on the road because it would suck to have your life ended by some whacko nutjob.

Anyone have some stories or close calls to tell about road rage?

Last week at work we were coming back from a delivery and this complete cockflounder cut me off as I had my blinker on and was about to move into the turning lane. All I was going to do was get into the turning lane and he could have followed me there, but instead he speeds up and goes into the left lane right beside me, thereby preventing me from even getting into the right turn lane. I couldn't go straight because commercial trucks are not allowed on Air Force Base property so I had to quickly go all the way into the other turning lane on the other side, make a U-Turn down that road and come back. Needless to say I was not happy and had we not been in the company truck which displays our company name on it, I would have probably ran the ****er off the road and beat the **** out of him. I had to settle for screaming every name at the book while within the safety of the truck, which did wake my co-worker up and frighten the hell out of him.

Yesterday something happened on my way home, not exactly a road rage incident, but not a pleasant experience either.

An idiot had the urge to stop his car in front of an intersaction, came out and talked to the driver of the car behind his. I guess they must be friends or something and from the facial expressions of the idiot I didn't think they were talking about something really urgent. I was the one right behind them. So I honked my horn...well...the idiot didn't beat the crap out of me. He has only given me his middle finger. I did give him mine back though. :D

Middle finger exchange is a form of intrastate commerce. Claim that on your tax returns.

Today I was riding my bike on Heights Blvd. I was at a stoplight waiting for it to turn green. When it did, I proceeded through the intersection. While I was accelerating some jerk in a pickup truck (small Japanese truck, not a big--bubba truck) honks at me because, apparently, I wasn't getting out of his way fast enough.

I looked back and watched him shake a fist at me. I really felt like turning around and confronting him and probably would have except I realized that he would be gone before I could catch up.

Does that count as road rage?

I know that some cyclists do stupid things that piss drivers off (and those cyclists are jerks or, at least, stupid). However, I was within the law, within my rights as a vehicle nor was I doing anything that a car wouldn't do.

There are so many losers out on the road who love nothing more than to fly off the handle at any situation who probably belong, or have been, in prison. I usually don't do anything to foster road rage in someone else nor do I do stupid stuff like drive slow in the fast lane. I just usually just let the expletives fly in my own car and not necessarily try to escalate anything with anyone else. I always curse on the road...I don't necessarily curse while looking at another driver because they don't even deserve a look if they just did something bonehead-ish. I'm not gonna be afraid to honk my horn, however, if someone makes some bonehead move that almost causes a wreck between us. If you want to shoot me over that, then you have issues cause your the one that screwed up. I don't ever screw up where I'm causing some problem but I do drive aggressively. For example, I don't believe in riding someone's tail because their bonehead slow driving in the fast lane. I still give them space and curse in my car. LOL. If they don't get over, then I find a way around.

The people I have problems with on the road are old people, cellphone drivers, people who cut over without checking their blind spot, people who turn left from the right lane, ladies more interested in applying make-up than driving, and people who drive slow in the left lane in any two-or-more lane situation. Unfortunately, that means every commute is going to have problems for me. Rarely do I not come across some bonehead in one of the above situations. But, I'm not going to respond by doing my own bonehead move(s) to escalate the situation. It seems like everyone is carrying guns in their cars these days that leads to most of the road rage violence. You just don't know who it is, what their mental state is, and what they might do. So, why escalate it unless your trying to be some stupid sort of hero in your own cause?

    Only in America... .

I handle bonehead drivers about the same that I handle people who walk all over me in person.... I let them do what they want and just swear at them in my head (sometimes I'll do it out loud)

    I'm such a pushover.

It's probably good to be a pushover... no sense in escalating it. It will just make everybody angry and then stuff really will happen.

I can get short-tempered sometimes, especially in this town where everybody drives sooooo slow. You're trying to get somewhere, you would like to get there on time, and there are cars going extremely slow in both lanes. I don't do much except yell at them (from inside my car with the windows closed) and drive a lot closer to them than I should.

If you look up "Road Rage" in the dictionary... you'd see my picture.

    Seriously.

I'm the epitome of the term.

That's why I hate driving. Too many slow people on the road for my taste.

My road rage comes from other things in life, not idiot drivers. My road rage consists of driving way over the speed limit for 2-3 minutes at a time. :(

Yeah, I can get really pissed when I drive. Especially people that are on cell phones. In my mind, these people are the scum of the roadways and should be locked up in jail. 9 times out of 10 if someone is driving slow and holding up traffic, they are on a phone. I'll usually drive by and pretend to have a phone up to my ear to mock them. Sometimes I'll even honk at them if they really piss me off. These people really get under my skin...

I agree. There have been countless times where a car right beside me is starting to drift into my lane (Not turning). I am forced to honk my horn to get them to get back in their lane. 9 times out of 10, these people are on the cellphone not paying attention.

Another thing that pisses me off is those people that have the heads in their @sses when the light turns green (Especially in the left turn lane). They just sit there until the light turns yellow and they are the only one to "officially" make the light before it turns red.

You should try the fake flip phone with your hand where you flip up your middle finger and pretend to start talking into your hand like the driver while flipping them off.

Where do you secure it from rolling around in the back? I just bought my '05 Touring Z and there is barely enough room to store a couple of oranges?

As for the question, yes I've got the road rage. Now that I own a sports car I seem to get a bit more nervous on the roads as the trucks love to tailgate, the kids LOVE to instigate and lure me into a race, and the damn people in this city still drive too slow. If everyone drove as great as I there would be no accidents. When I 'show' you you're number one when you're driving 50 in the fast lane, it really means GET THE HELL OUT OF THE FASTLANE, JACKAZZ!

    I'm a people person.

If you want to experience road rage go take a drive on I-45 in Houston. That highway has some of the dumbest people driving on it...I get pissed off everytime I take that route..
