My sis and I both drive Civics. She drives the standard, I drive the automatic. I nearly totaled the standard in Austin so she won't let me near it anymore.
Drove standards until I bought a truck that was for both myself and my wife. She doesn't know how to drive a standard, so we went with auto. Gotta say, I really appreciate the benefits of an auto. I used to like standard but, man, is auto ever easy to drive and smooth. I love mine now.
I like to feel like I am driving something, not pushing on a peddal and going, Auto's are like driving go carts, plus they dont get as good gas mileage as a standard
While its nice to drive an automatic once in awhile, give me a standard every time. I feel like I have much more control over the vehicle with a standard transmission. Also, I don't have to worry about not knowing how to drive something, like all the women in my family have to do.
ONLY if u have a fast car ya standard is kool but if ur a poor b*stard then u get a standard................. don't ever call me a p***y again.
I drive a standard, and while it's fun, especialy after drinking a pot of coffee, it can also be a big pain in the @ss. Ever try answering a cell phone while trying to shift from first to second? Also, any kind of messy food eating while driving is totaly out of the question. Logistically, automatic is just easier.
I drive auto, but I'm thinkin about learning standard. I've driven a stick about 2 times, and it doesn't seem that hard. But then again, I didn't get past 2nd gear. It was just some neighborhood driving. So anyone got any tips for me?
Standard. My family never owned a car with an automatic transmission, so I got used to it. There are so many advantages to driving a standard: usually better fuel economy and an extra gear, and cars are usually $800-1000 cheaper without an auto. Also more fun
The only thing I hate about standards is the shaky ride when shifting gears. Maybe not so much at higher speeds, but initially goin from 1st to 2nd you feel it.
