Do you put in effort with your clothes and appearance?

I'm definitely one of those people who cares about their appearance...I'm the type of person that make sure I look good before I leave the house to work. I won't go to work without any make up but I will if I'm just going to a store. If I know I'm gonna interact with people(co-workers, friends and family) I dress up nice, wear make up and fix my hair. Call me vain but I like to look good.

I have wayyy more work clothes than regular clothes so therefore, I put into effort with my work clothes than regular clothes. I just wear jeans and a teeny t-shirt or whatever on weekends.

Speaking of my work wardrobe, I think I need to update it! :D

Damn it, I misspelled the thread title. :(

At work, I tend to dress up nice. Its usually in a corporate environment and its required...except on Fridays. At home, I am usually wearing cargo shorts, tee's and sandles (chonklas) Ive been told by the wife that sometimes I look grungy. She buys me clothes sometimes and they usually look real nice. But theyre too expensive!! She looks very nice and is very pretty. Its also required in her line of business too. She owns her own business and has to have her look up to date. I do go to her place to get my haircut and massages and even a pedicure...thats right I said it. ;)

I hear that once a month "my work wardrobe, I think I need to update it"

I absolutely care about my appearance. I feel better when I know that I look better. And... to preach a little.....people should care more about their appearances. America has become far too sloppy.

I care to a point. Not going to go shopping every season to get new gear or anything. At work, I sit in a cubicle, working on websites. I have little to no contact with anyone so dressing up everyday is not really something I do. I would say that 2 days out of the week I will be in jeans and a dress shirt.

Dressing up everyday just isn't me. Call me sloppy or whatever, but that isn't me.

I care during courting. But once the prize is in the bag, I'm headed to the coach unshaven with chips, salsa, beer and my Luther Head jersey.

I care enough about my appearance to make sure my hair is styled, my clothes are clean and match, my shoes match my clothes, and that's where it stops. Other than basic hygiene practices, I don't care one bit. I rarely (only for formal events) wear makeup, so there's a good 10 minutes I can snooze in the morning.

Though I will admit, when I go shopping, I buy shirts and pants I can wear both at work and on the weekends. That I DO care about.

No, I do not care about my appearance at all. It frustrates me to no end. I'd love to be able to wake up, straighten my hair, do my makeup, pick a nice ensemble and then walk confidently out the door. Instead, I get up 5 minutes before I have to leave, throw on whatever clothes are nearest, and go out the door. I don't even look at myself in the mirror...it's depressing in the morning. My hair is usually standing on end, so I put it in a ponytail.

I'm starting to feel rather prole. I'm trying to discipline myself. :(

I very much care and probably almost fit the non-metrosexual category, if that term still has meaning.

This is why I studiously and fervently avoid the graphic tee, for instance.

It's unfortunate that appearance is one of the least important traits in a human being, yet it is treated as if it is one of the most important.

For me, it really depends on what I am doing as to whether I care or not. If I am just going to the store or something like that, I don't usually care. I care enough to put on clothes that aren't shredded or anything, but no too far beyond flip flops and a baseball cap.

If I'm going out or if I have a show or if I'm meeting with a client, I'll put effort into it, but I don't freak out about it.

Girl, you and me both. I can get dressed and out the door in 10 - 15 minutes each morning. Thank god I shower at night, or I'd be one smelly Meggo!

Not really. I dress up for work, but not because I want to. I think I was scarred from having the wear a uniform as a child.

I care to be comfortable over whatever it might look like. Basically I like to dress down as far as socially acceptable.

Part of it is just being lazy, but the other part is that I could care less what people, who I don't know, think of me.

I'm trying to weed out a lot of the t-shirts and exercise shorts out of my daily attire, because that is what I always end up wearing. It can be hard, especially for us women, because we're supposed to look nice.

For me I think it's always been a self-fulfilling prophecy. I played sports in school and always felt like "one of the guys." My mom would say that to her friends and would always look at me hopelessly and labeled me "tomboy." Kind of like the reaction a mother has when her daughter starts dressing slutty as a teen...my mom and I have gotten into dozens of fights over the years about how sloppy and frumpy I look. I think I've kept dressing like that just to tick her off, and now it's a habit.

I agree with what Jeff said, that way too much emphasis is based on appearance. But I will admit with a cringe that I AM happier and more confident when I dress up. I tend to have better posture.

WE need pics...oh wait... Metro's UNITE!!!

With so many threads of fashion lately, I'd go out on a limb and say yes...

Personally, i take time to layout what I wear the night before for work...Lately, I've been wearing slacks and nice button up shirt, even in 100 degree weather...go figure...

I have tons of clothes, you know, fat clothes, not so fat clothes, skinny clothes...On the weekends, I hate to admit it, but I try to coordinate as well...Is that vain? Maybe, maybe no...

Now if I'm driving to Houston, I'll wear some beat up workout shorts and a wife beater...no lie...

I do on occasion, but not 24/7.

When I come to work, I basically make sure that my shirt and jeans aren't wrinkled to hell or have stains on them, and when it comes to shoes pretty much anything goes except for flip flops or sandals. Sometimes I shave, but most of the time I don't.

When I go to the gym, I wear basketball shorts and usually a beat up old shirt or basketball shirt/jersey from one of the various leagues I've been in over the years. Some of those are a decade old now. I'm not and never will be one of these people who goes out and buys a bunch of matching Nike outfits in an attempt to look high class or whatever while I'm sweating my ass off.

When I go out with my girlfriend, I make sure everything is clean and ironed, but I still usually stick to a t-shirt or polo shirt and jeans. I may or may not opt for something above and beyond the usual white tennis shoe. On special occasions, I'll wear a long sleeve dress shirt and some dress shoes, but I'll still wear jeans.

When I have to dress up in a suit and tie for work, I look pretty sharp and I feel good about it...but I have no interest in doing that every day.
