The one you might not end up marrying, and you might haven't had contact with her/him for years, but you still have a place for her/him deep down in your heart? Are those just our unforgettable memories or it is love? These thoughts came up on my mind after I watched a one hour long anime - "5 Centimeters Per Second". This anime was very beautiful and sad at the same time. I highly recommend everyone to watch it (Youtube link) Here is the theme song of the anime <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gWZwX8ZQNEk&hl=zh_CN&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gWZwX8ZQNEk&hl=zh_CN&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
What would be the difference here between true love and love? I would say it's just love, which in that case i'd say, yes i believe in it. However, i think people often can't distinguish from being in love and being used to someone. Sometimes the reason you cant forget them is because that's all you know (or the best situation you've been in) and that's not necessarily love.
The difference? True love is what you got what others don't have. It's some marketing gimmick to make your relationship more significant. Like what BJ said, love takes work and sacrifice. "True love" doesn't make it easier... unless you dump the heavy lifting on her.
She writes me a simple email every year. "Marry Christmas" and I never reply. I don't know if she has a boyfriend, married, or have kids and I don't want to know.
True Love is a wonderful thought, but that's about it. I really think that, as it is with ALL people, there's a relatively small percentage of others who are ideally compatible with you and your interests, and whom you could love enough to be with forever, start a family, etc. Things like 'true love' and 'love at first sight' are really just figures of speech meant to convey feeling and meaning, or impact. As for someone 'having a special place in your heart,' hell I've got a million of those. Some are exes, some are family, friends, etc. And again that phrase is a figure of speech that to conveys the feeling, meaning, and impact that a person has had on you. Pretty simple, really.

Yeah I said it. For realz though, I don't know if I believe in TRUE LOVE. But I sure do believe in a thing called love!
Damn; nicely phrased. Compact, effective, seemingly distant, just one Freudian slip belying your feelings: "Marry Christmas?"
define "love" with 10 sources then write a 4-5 page paper on it arguing that different cultures/religious groups/genders use the term love differently. And Please have this ready by 1 PM tomorrow... no but seriously it's impossible i can't find more than 5 legitimate sources...
