He picked Moochie Norris to win the Most Improved Player Award for 03-04 season. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/preview2003/news/story?id=1644859
I expect Moochie to be much better than last year, but even if he's most improved in that sense, he still has no business winning MIP. That award, imo, goes to players who have a breakout year, not guys who play well, slump, and then recover. Moochie played well when he first signed on to the Rockets and I'm expecting only that he'll return to that level of play. He'd have to be much better than he was a couple seasons back to be MIP.
No. But I agree with Jack Ramsay's Most Improved pick of Yao Ming. And Dan Shanoff's Coach of The Year.
This is a safe pick. Out of all the players in the league was there anyone who played worse than Moochie Norris? So if your scratching your head trying to figure out who will win the esteemed most improved player award, just pick the guy who hit rock bottom, right? I mean the guy can't possibly have a worse year. He can't sink any lower. At least I don't think he can. I hope not. what is the MIP Award really about anyways? hey buddy, you sucked really bad last year, but this year you don't stink as bad, so accept this award for not stinking up the arena as bad as you did the previous year. Man I don't know if I would want that kind of recognition.
Heck no! Players who get picked for this award are guys who go from being scrubs to being near all-stars. Not guys who go from horrible to serviceable.
Think of guys like Ricky Davis. He was nothing and then averaged 20+ points, 5+ assists, and 1.5 steals a game last year. Or Jermaine O'Neal, who didn't do much his first few years.
i agree with david aldridge until to the point of mooch winning mip. mooch will really improve this year (hopefully). i want the ol mooch back.
ima go on a limb and say MICHAEL REDD will win MIP, no casell or allen, leaves him as a 20 point scorer
