Do Yao and China have a chance against Spanny Franchise and Grease?

China almost beat Spain. They didn't expect such a lead going into the 4th so they weren't mentally prepared. Plus the Home Court advantage they definitely have a chance to beat any team except the USA.

 

Span is going to eat Chinese guard alive. and spain is really good with their team defense and pressure defense. I dont think China can pull this one out.

The thing is mental toughness and stamina. China was not able to hold big leads because they were fatigued and unprepared mentally.

The issue I have with the Chinese team is that it looks like they have 2 identities.....

One is with Yao as the dominant inside force but they rarely cut off of him or are inconsistent at 3pters to really make it an effective offense.

Two is when Yao goes to the bench they get out and run and cut and drive.....

Yi fits into the 2nd system more and Yao fits into the first, so sometimes it looks like they don't know who they really are......

Greece clearly plays as a team, but if you get ahead of them they can fold up......

I think China has a chance, surely....maybe like a 45% chance......because they are at home.

I do expect Yao to swat a few of those V-Span drives into the cheap seats though.

Greece might tank this game just so they don't have to face Argentina and play Lithuania instead.

Quitting in the face of adversity to take the easier road is their way of life.

 

Although China didn't play great defense OR use their most active and fiery guard, they managed to scramble away with a win with some timely 3 pointers, a clutch shot from Yi, and some choking by good ol' Dirk. Seriously, since the 06' playoffs Dirk has just been choking constantly. I think he's going to drop out of the NBA soon as the Mavericks are declining and become somewhat crazy/alcoholic.

which team is a better matchup for China? Lithuania or Argentina?
personally I wanna see Yao vs Scola, but I heard the coach for China is from Lithuania so...

 

for some reason I think Lithuania is better. Scola knows Yao and Ginobili will go off on CNT guards, injured foot or not.

 

care to enlighten me which games you have watched that supports your claim the team is full of quitters? just because V-Span flopped doesn't mean everyone else is lazy.

If the China guards realize that no one in the tournament can match up against Yao one on one, they will feed it to Yao. The only offensive force that China has to neutralize is Spanoulis, most of the other players will play within the "team" concept and get their shots in that process. It's not unthinkable for China to beat Greece.
