I've been out in California for college, so I admittedly have not been able to follow the Rockets too closely the last couple of years, but I'm a bit curious as to the emphasis on finding a 3. I mean, Eddie Griffin can knock down the outside shot, so couldn't we just run him and MoT or him and KT together, and bring Rice off the bench? I mean, doesn't Franchise Cat Griffin MoT/KT Ming work as a legit starting lineup?
Rudy thinks of Griffin as a 4. His defense definitely calls for him to be a 4. He can shoot like a 3, but he definitely can't dribble or pass so that's an issue. We need a 3 that can dish the ball and help Steve with ballhandling. Griffin will be our 4 in a couple years with Mo T as the 4/5 backup. Kenny T is expendable along with our #15 to get the best SF available.
Offensively, we might not need a 3... However, I wouldn't want to see EG or KT or Mo try to defend a SF.
