That's it exactly. We only have the picks as trade bait. Now Vancouver has PLENTY of picks so, in my eyes, they are out of the equation. I just don't see Chicago being that high on Cato that they would even consider any of the deals presented on this board. We're stuck at 13!

The only player under contract that might draw some interest would be KT & maybe Walt(only because of his 3 point shooting), if the right team came along. If Moochie were under contract, then we'd have someone that would draw some interest, but basically you're right, we have no players of value that we'd trade. Having to face the reality, of acknowledging the fact, that we don't have what it takes to move up really sucks.

Cato, I hate your sorry, lazy, unmotivated, whiny, lethargic, overpaid, no rebounding, no shooting, no running, no game, finger pointing, ugly a** SUV driving, nintendo playing, (Did I mention overpaid?) wussy a**! Did I leave anything out? [IMG]

heypartner, it seems that Boston is content in their 10 and 11 slots.

And why wouldn't they be? The sorry smucks are bound to get either Gasol or Radmanovic and Brown... everyone they want.

    Bah.

so, what's you point Achebe, that that means we have trade value since the real value is going no where.

    You are dreaming.

Vanc will just keep that #6 if they don't get fair value, and wait for July 18th when SnTs are allowed. imo, the trade we are making on draft day is a trade down and out of the 1st round. Get ready to be pissed off about trading one of our picks out of the 1st round, out of this draft, or for a marginal vet that 1/2 the board will accept and the other 1/2 will hate vehemently because they wanted Terrance Morris or something equally marginal, but with more potential.

    you poor, poor speculators.

You could fill up a whole page with Cato's faults......but please don't. (maybe in another thread.)

TRG today claimed on his site that the Rockets 'have a bead on #4'. Well, I'm sure they do. I'm sure we have a bead on #1 also. Why he continues to claim that Chicago would be willing to trade down for two picks and take Cato is beyond me. I know we have the Drew obligation hanging over their heads, but that's just not enough. There's no way that Chicago is that stupid. We're set at 13, like it or not.

A lot has to do with filling rosters. If a team needs rosters spots (a team like Chicago or Detroit would qualify), picking up extra picks in a deep draft would probably be of great benefit to them.

For a team that is relying on protecting its cap space (like Houston), drafting all three probably cramps our style which is why we are trying to unload them.

Ultimately, I think you are right that we don't have any real trade value outside of our picks because there isn't much of value we are willing to trade. Also, the fact that this draft is as deep and as wierd makes this a much more anxious one where teams might be more prone to do crazy things for draft position.

Just heard on 610 that Vancouver is trying to move the 6th pick. Appearently, they have talked to the Rockets but want all three picks.

I'm not sure I'd give all three. Maybe two and next years first.

I would consider all 3 picks if we could add a high second rounder (the #33 they have). Maybe (depending of if we think anyone would slip all the way down to 48 that could help us) even ask them for the #48 if we could possbly get Tmo. 2nd rounders aren't guaranteed money so could be worth looking at.
#6 I would love to grab Battier if he slides
#33 Ken Johnson but the local talk shows says Golden State may nab him with the 2nd pick in the 2nd round.
#48 Tmo if he drops (it may be a redudant pick if we get Battier) but he has such a big fan base on hear I think it would be popular. Actually I have heard anywhere from the bottom of the 1st round to end of draft so he very well could be gone.

I'd be for it if we got a 2nd rounder back also. I'd take White over Battier though.

Despite recent comments that we would be happy using all three picks, I can't see it happening. There is way too much cap impact for us to make three 1st round picks...especially while we are trying to use the room to go after free agents.

I think I would take the trade, even if it was a straight 3 for 1. I know that it seems like a lot to give up, but it would put us in a position to grab Battier or White (or someone else if things get weird). Either of those guys could add a lot to our team.

Plus, we still have the free agent market. Oh, and we might want to keep some money around to resign some of our own guys....

    Bigman,

Vancouver already has the Rocket's pick next year. Detroit owes the rockets a conditional pick sometime in the next couple of years.

Now if this isn't a thread about KEEPING ALL 3 PICKS!!!, I don't know what is!

This is a great opportunity to add some solid players with potential, i.e. players with trade value. Remember the last time the Rocks had multiple picks, they found 1 solid starter, traded another for the franchise player, and traded the other two for at least 2 future draft picks.

You're right Joe Joe. My bad. So, with the possibility of not having a first round pick next year does it make since to trade all 3 picks for #6?

    Bigman,

If 610 is right, that means they will end up with FOUR 1st rounders. No one is picking 4 rookies. There would have to be another deal there, imo.

Assuming we can't move up, here's a trade idea that at least works on paper. It involves the Knicks, who are trying to get a mid first round pick.

Houston sends Walt/KT/LOS/#18 or #23 pick to New York.

New York sends Camby/Othella/Postell/1 or both of their second round picks to Houston.

I don't know if they would do it or, even if we would. Maybe, if someone that the Knicks really want is there at the time, then they might pull the trigger to get him. It's just a thought. Any comments?

Hell No! Camby is worth way more than any player we (the Knicks) can pick up at that point. We already have a KT, too. Walt is just a recurring theme with Rice, Sprewell, and Houston.
