We still won't have home court advantage.. and we'd end up playing dallas instead of seattle.... I'm not sure if that's a good idea...
I'm not scared of any of those run and gun teams. The only team that I think is probably still better than the Rockets in playoff style basketball is the Spurs. (and the Rockets seem to match up very well with them)
yes i want to move up to the 5th seed, so that we could then go after the 4th seed all in all though i don't think it matters much who play between sonics and mavs
Dallas is good. They have a good team and a good organization. Nowitzki..if healthy..is really good. We can't defend him. McGrady could guard him I think..not all the time..but if Dirk wants to be soft and shoot jumpers..which he can knock down..I think it'd be best to put Tmac on him out in the perimeter..but of course Tmac will get tired..and might get in foul trouble and stuff. Howard, Spoon, Padgett can keep up for Dirk for a while..but wow..Garnett is the only one who can somewhat defend Dirk. Dirk's always like hurt though. I want Yao to stay inside. Terry is good..he really is..but Sura and James can do a good job against him. Michael Finley is really good. He's strong. His jumper is really good and goes in consistently. He doesn't seem to have a major role anymore though..Wesley's smaller and I think might have trouble if they go to Finley. Howard and Daniels are athletic..Ryan Bowen could guard them..Padgett could do all right on them. Tmac uses skill over them. Devin Harris..is a good player..but whenever he plays against the ROckets, he doesn't seem to play very smart..and yeah makes rookie mistakes. Yao inside..if Yao can begin to dominate..which he can..then we might have a chance. Sonics..I don't think they can guard Yao unless they resort to the Ukraine Train hacking Yao to the hospital...we just need to play really really good defense..and play our offense..and I think we can beat them.
Its better to just try to win every game, and let the chips fall where they may. Even if we stay with the 6th seed, we may end up playing Dallas anyway... You never know if Dallas will move up, and Seattle may move down ...
The only way for Dallas to move past Seattle is.... ... heck - I can't even think of a scenario - maybe if the Spurs collapsed and Dallas won the division, then they'd be past Seattle - but that's unlikely! Seattle gets third seed unless they lose 10 straight and Danver or Minny wins 10 straight - it's by very nature of their being the divisional champions. So, even if Dallas has a better record, they won't be 3rd seed! But I say you win every single game you can, and let other teams take care of themselves! If we finish 5th and play Dallas, then we need to beat Dallas. If we lose that series then we're not contenders anyway! The bonus could be if we keep winning and move past both Sacto AND Dallas into 4th seed, and get homecourt. Now that would be something!
Hell, we are only 4 back of having homecourt advantage in the first round. I want to win every game, but it's so strange...The way things are right now...6 seed you have to go through Seattle and PHX in the first two rounds...4 or 5 seed...Dallas and San Antonio! But PHX could potentially end up with the top seed.
Spurs is not a lock for #1 seed yet. Rockets still has chance to get #4 seed and still has chance to slip out of playoff. Just win as much as possible.
What JW said... If we can't beat SEA or PHO then we don't deserve to be there. Getting home court over the lower teams would be nice, though (4th?). Can we catch Dallas?
Why is everyone worried of who the Rockets play, it should be the other way around with the other teams worrying about the Rockets. The Rockets will have to beat which ever team they play in order to advance. I rather have the Rockets beat any team just as long they get to the finals.
Hey Guys, to be the best you've got to beat the best. Right now the way that we are playing, I don't think any team wants to face us in the playoffs. Not wanting to be cocky or what but I think the team that can beat us right now is us, ourselves. I have never seen a team coming together like this team before. We seemed to stumble into a secret magic formula, we got superstars, defenders, shooters, role players who truly know their roles and our guys are totally selfless. And the scariest part is Yao keeps improving , he hasn't even reached the top of his game yet! Damn, life is good when you're a Rocket fan!
I don't see how our seed matters, unless we want homecourt advantage. Our goal is to win the championship, not become the new age Minniesota T-Wolves. That means we make other teams adapt to us, not avoid them, because on our way to the finals, sooner or later we meet a team that plays well against us. I am fine with any seed we get even if it means playing against a tough team. If you don't play against them how do you learn?
If we win every game from now on we'll get home court in the first round. However, I do believe that we'd have a better chance against Seattle and Phoenix than Dallas and San Antonio. Seattle and Phoenix are regular season teams. This year's Mavs are built for the playoffs, and SA is SA.
I would much rather play the Sonics than the Mavs but we still have to go out and try to win every game and then see what happens. Who knows, maybe Dallas will go into a mini slump and go like 5-5 in there next 10 and then we would be right there with them going into the last 10 games of the season. The way we are playing right now I dont think it matters who we play in round 1.
