    No... trust me... they see.

But, there are seriously no other options out there right now. Qualls was just called up, and he gave up that 5-run inning in Montreal on saturday.

Duckworth is still struggling as a starter in AAA-ball, and Backe is being called up to replace Pettite in the rotation.

I'd like to see the club give Ezequial Astacio a shot... he's striking out guys at an ALARMING rate at AA-Round Rock, and seeing that the club now refuses to send any of their marquee guys to the lame-duck AAA New Orleans franchsise, a cup of coffee up here in September wouldn't be all that out-of-the ordinary.

He's on the 40-man roster, so you wouldn't have to clear a spot for him (although Weathers would be the first to go). Willy Tavares also fits this mold, but he is in fact not on the 40-man roster.

I think there's some dead weight on the 40 man roster that would be cleared before Weathers...guys like Jared Fernandez and minor leaguers Jimmy Barrett (didn't we release him?? or is he just injured). Griffiths doesn't seem to have much future, either.

Some other guys on the 40 man to watch. for Sept...Jimerson, Burke, Whiteman, and Buchholz, plus maybe Gimenez. Of course Redding and Duckworth will probably get called back up, too.

The other guy in Round Rock with OUTSTANDING numbers is Mike Burns...1.30 ERA, 10-2 W-L, 78 Ks and 14 BBs in 69 IP, all in relief. Plus only 1 HR allowed. He's generally not viewed as a super prospect, though- I saw him once, and he didn't throw particularly hard, but had good movement. That Round Rock team has 4 guys averaging better than 1 K/IP- Burns, Santiago Ramirez (30 saves, 2.66 ERA), DJ Houlton (9-5, 3.28 ERA), and Astacio (9-10, 3.92 ERA). The latter 3s K/BB numbers aren't quite as gawdy Burns'.

Bucholz hasn't pitched in awhile, as I remember reading how he was in Houston a couple of months ago for a shoulder exam (don't worry... it wasn't a rotator cuff tear or anything... just stiffness).

Whiteman also went down with some sort of injury a while back... but both guys could just be being held back for precautionary reasons.

Anybody else have updated news on them?

Seems like something out of Monty Python
    :p

I agree that Weathers, along with Gallo, should be tossed out on their collective asses. I still think that Harville has the potential to be a good setup guy. Get rid or Gallo and Weathers and open up 2 spots on the 40-man for Willy Tavares (Sept call-up) and possibly Santiago Rameriez.

I agree. He's 25, and not getting any younger. With his strikeout numbers he needs to be given the opportunity to show what he can do on the major league level. I doubt he will be the next Johan Santana, but that is the last thing this club needs.....again.

The Stros have nothing to play for the rest of this season, so it doesn't really matter. They can experiment with all of their relief guys until they find a few good arms for the pen. Time for you Stros fans to start thinkin' about football.

Speak up, dude, I can barely hear you.

By the way, do you know how much Fatboy Weathers gets paid? Take a look; they will not release him - sorry about that.
