It occured to me last night as the st louis was coming back on the cubs, that the cards aren't going to be caught easily. While they don't have the quality at the top of their rotation, that say an arizona has, they do have great depth to their staff and one of the best offenses in baseball (esp. now w/ rolen). Despite all these wins recently, i'm not sure the 'stros are for real. I guess they'll show us in the next week or so, but even if they are successful the rest of the way, their only real playoff shot is, imo, the wildcard.

Right now LA and San Fransisco are battling it out at the top of the wc standing with houston being 5.5 games outs. Both have struggled alot since the all-star break and it's my hope that the west will just beat each other up and let the astros, with a relatively easier schedule, jump in front of them. I think we can do it. We'll need sarloos and hernandez to step up though

I think our best chance is the division. How many more games with STL do we have? Because we will play them several times later on, that is why I think they are our best shot.

Of course, if AZ just dominates LA or SF, and SF and LA beat each other up, then we could sneak in the wild card.

We have six games left with the Dodgers, 7 with the Cards, and just 3 with the Giants. I believe those numbers are right anyway, they're off the top of my head. If we perform well in those series and beat up on the other teams like we should then we have a good shot at getting in the playoffs one way or another.

I think we have a good shot at the wild card. The Dodgers have been struggling, and the Giants arent looking good with Bonds and the rest of the outfield injured. I think we could take them along with the Mets and Reds.

Big series with the Mets coming up!

The Astros have a shot at the wild card, but I still think they have a better chance of catching St. Louis and winning the division. Yeah, the Cards got Rolen, and that's a major acquisition, but I'm still not quite sold on their starting pitching.

The Stros chances are better than 50/50... It all depends on the pitching rotation. If Saarloos and Munro can keep performing at the level they have recently, they could easily win the wildcard. The second half of the season is not as bad and the first half. :D

If they continue to play like they have been recently, they will make the playoffs. The Astros have too many games remaining with people ahead of them. 6 with the Giants, 6 with the Dodgers, 7 with the Cardinals, 3 with the Mets.

I think we have a much better shot of catching STL than the wildcard -- there are just too many teams there. To win the division, we need to play well and STL play OK. To win the wildcard, we need to play well and CIN/NYM/SF/LA all to play OK.

We've been playing well recently, but we've also played -- by far -- the easiest schedule in the league. Remember, we just finished something like 18 games against the Brewers, Pirates, and Cubs.
