Could somebody please tell me why I get the following error message when I try to sign in to the Forum with the Opera browser: "POST requests from foreign hosts are not allowed."

I've used Opera for many years and have only had this problem in the last six months or so.

I like Opera very much and can't stand IE.

p.s. I suppose it's not really a big deal, because I don't post often. But it still irks me to have to use IE.

    Thanks for any help

In the last six months, have you installed a firewall or a security program like Norton?

Must be a security feature in Opera or in your firewall about hiding HOST REFERER (trust me, that's how they spell it) when posting to a form.

This forum more than likely has a "REFERRER_CHECK" enabled, and so your browser may be hiding the setting which prevents it from POSTING.

Try looking for your firewall's security settings or Opera security settings for POSTING or FORM SUBMITTING or HOST.

Thanks, I'll check the security settings in Opera. I don't THINK it's Norton because I have no problems with the forum when using IE.

okay... I do have "enable referrer logging" option checked in Opera. Maybe if I uncheck it?

I'll have to log off now because I'm using IE. I'll try to log back on with Opera and that option unchecked and see if it makes a difference. Thanks... I'll get back to you.

(two minutes later) Okay!!! I'm back, and logged in with Opera! Wow, thanks! I shouldn't have been so shy. Wish I had asked sooner.

    Thanks again.

    Glad you got the pun.
Yeah, I know. I read the forum constantly but generally, (in my life too) I don't say much unless I think it's adding to the discussion.

There are quite a few people here with some fantastic insights, and I love some of the humor. And I enjoy reading.

Also, I've seen quite a few people get ripped apart for making comments that may not be well thought out.

But thanks for the welcome... I may try to contribute more. I'm a season ticket holder and really excited about this season.

Avoid IE like it's worse than the plague... anyone get the IE 7.0 update via windows update recently? Someone found a major security flaw in it hours after it was released...
