The question: "Do dogs have no brains?" leads me to ask: If you could lick yourself, would you??

Get a "catch-em-live" trap. Your local police or animal control should have one, if not try a sporting goods/hunting place. Bait it & after he's in there, drop him off in the country.

Samurai: :) Actually, we nuke the ants, but I can tell you a good way to do it that will keep from harming beneficial insects and poisoning your plants:

Orange or Citrus Oil - Use a 6:1 ratio (6 parts water to 1 part oil). It kicks the living crap out of fire ants but it is completely safe around pets and doesn't disturb other beneficial insects or plants. You can find it at most garden places. We nuke the ants because they are harmful to the surrounding environment, tough on pets and dangerous for kids. They are actually working on a biological solution - a fly from Brasil that is the fire ant's natural enemy. They just want to make sure the fly won't take over before releasing it. :D

outlaw: Actually, possums will eat just about anything but they mainly control the rodent population by hunting at the same times as rats and mice. They eat more than the other rodents do minimizing the food supply.

We have a couple of possums and an occassional racoon that are in and around are yard. They come out at night and eat the cat food we leave out or food scraps (like bread crumbs or potatoes) we leave out in the yard.

Does the Citrus Oil kill them or do they just move ?

btw, I read the same article about the flys, neat stuff.

I picture these little dive bombing flies with goggles and
    scarf’s decapitating their enemy. :D
