There's this one collie that is at this house near where I live. Whenever I'm walking home from school or going to the basketball court, he always barks. Usually barks for about another 5 minutes after I am out of sight too. I would think that since I've been passing by for about 5 years, he'd get used to me but no. Other dogs in the area have, but not him...or her.

Then again, my dog was the same. Barked all the time at everybody. He wanted to rip apart my friends, even though he saw them everyday. If he couldn't get them, he figured barking would hurt them, I guess.

Well, what if there should be an unfortunate accident?

I just happen to know someone who specializes in exactly these kinds of sticky situations.

we have these people that live down the street and around a corner from us, they have three dogs and the minute they see me and my 2 dogs walking, the freak out, bark loudly for several minutes even after we've passed them. I would hate to live anywhere near those dogs and the owner NEVER tells them to shut up. It's amazing.

My dogs bark, but usually when someone is in our yard or on our porch. They will let out the occasional "sorry to wake you up in the middle of the night" bark when they hear something, but for the most part they are really good.

How are your Rots rH. Ive heard mixed things about them - mainly the aggressive stories.

Ive been looking at getting a boxer too.

Good choice, if you've got a lot of patience. Boxers are basically puppies until about age 2, except (hopefully) housebroken well before then. They're very affectionate, not aggressive at all, make lousy guard dogs, and almost never bark. Very active too.

I have a four year old Boxer runt, basically a miniature and just a little bigger than a beagle, which is good because she's destructive enough at her size as it is.

My parents have 2 golden retrievers, one male and one female, and one lil mutt dog, also female , and they are pretty good about barking at night. The male used to bark the most - he would bark at anything that came into the cul-de-sac. But apparently my dad yelled at the dog enough, now the only time he barks is if someone actually makes it to the front door without him knowing about it. The two females only start barking at night if the male does. But during the day it's a different story. The lil mutt barks the most out of the three of them.... go figure.

Screw animal rights. Shoot that barking b****. Nothing sucks more then a dumb ass dog (well except for its owner) who wont shut the hell up. My nieghbor had a dog that would start barking everyday at 6:30 am. And I am talking about that non-stop blood boiling bark. For about 4-5 hours straight. I felt like strangling that stupid ass dog.

Dogs, like people, are products of their environments. If a dog is kept outside, no walks, not much interaction, no training it will lean towards being aggressive from lack of human interaction.

My dogs live indoors, get walks every day, we feed them, they live with us, they have toys, get treats and are part of our 'pack'.

The aggressive dogs are the ones who get no love or are trained to be aggressive. My dogs will be excited to see you but they aren't gonna bite. Not all Rotts/dogs are inherently aggressive. It depends on how they are brought up.

Rotts, German Shepherds, Pitbulls, Boxers, they are not inherently bad, you have a few bad owners that have bad dogs and they tend to give the whole breed a bad name.

We've considered a boxer, we have some neighbors who have a boxer, they are so cool. they just look so regal, with their square face and boxy chest. I dig them.
