I am not a big DMB fan, my other half loves him.

We were disappointed when I saw them the second time in concert. The only thing different was the song played. We thought maybe it was b/c it was in back-to-back years.

Did not see him for a couple of years and she wanted to go see them, and the only thing different was the songs played.

Unless you really dig his songs, I say if you have seen him once you seen him enough. The wife still likes them a lot, but even she mentioned today she is not interested this go round.

So when you say love, you mean she kinda likes him.

That's what's so great about DMB, you can go see them 13 times in a row and never see the same show.

What, exactly, were y'all hoping to see different?

She loves his music, liked the first show, but hoped for much more from him live. Not being a fan of his myself, I saw his live show as being very average and other than an occasional drum solo or something a little off beat, it was like listening to his CD really loud with 14,000 people.

...or just listen to his CD's while using the shuffle feature on the CD player.

When I am at a concert, I am looking for a performance, and the next time I see them, I expect to see some changes in the show. I could name a number of musicians who give good to great performances, they are fun to see repeatedly and the shows change. He is not one of them. He is a good artist, not much of a performer.

i have always liked dmb. but now i really like him. it seems as though someone from here (CC.net) purchased an ad on a popular dmb site and caused me to sell a bunch of cd's. in turn i feel an obligation to reciprocate the favour. Thje site is www.nancies.org and it is the f4cking baddet ass dmb site out there.

:) That was me! It's only $1 for 1000 ads and I use nancies enough to feel I should donate to it. So I've been going through and advertising things I like :) Hope it worked out well!

Now, which one did they put up there, because the ad I posted was this:

    Yao Ming
Yao Ming Yao Ming Yao Ming Yao Ming Yao Ming Yao Ming Yao Ming Yao Ming

And I never saw it come up as one of the featured ads. Then a few days later I saw a different one that said the Yao Ming song is the most addictive song ever. I was wondering if they changed my ad, or perhaps it ran out quickly -- I only got 2000 ads . . .

edit: One other thing about the nancies site ads is that I think they get visited a lot more than usual because they are so well-placed and unintrusive, but they are kind of compelling and are almost all placed by DMB fans. Really pretty cool. I imagine if you blew $50 advertising there you'd do 10x better than just about anywhere else.

That's what I'm wondering. While there are some songs that sound the same every time live, there are more than enough that don't.

I'm planning on getting a pair of tickets for the Houston show as a surprise for my wife. She would divorce me in a New York minute if she thought she had a chance with DM. Maybe we can plan a spot to meet at CWMP.

( I sure hope she doesn't read this thread!)

True story: Two years ago on my wife's birthday, I had to be at work early in the morning. The night before, I bought a DMB videotape, popped it into the VCR, then left a note attached to the TV. All it said was "Turn on TV, push play." I figured she would call when she awoke (usually about 7 or so)...she didn't call till mid morning, and she was out of breath. Hmmm....

I thought last year at CWMP they were good, but the year before (the mud show with Bela Fleck) was freaking W-E-A-K.

Of course, if you see a band more than a handful of times, you gotta expect an off night.

Hoping this show is a good one.

OK...so the question is still out there? My 3 year old son loves the Dave Matthews Band...knows the words to the songs...asks to hear them while driving in the car...wants to watch the DVD so he can dance around and sing...do we take him with us this year? Is that a bad idea? I need help with this one!!! My sister has taken her girls 4-7 to see Brittney Spears, N'Sync and other bubblegum type groups. No problems...anyone see any problem with me taking my son to see DMB? Help!!!

Didn't Bela Fleck open for them in 2000? If you're referring to the May show in 2001, then you're just crazy, but I'm pretty sure you're referring to the 2000 show since Soullive opened for them in 2001. The 2000 show I went to was pretty weak, in DMB terms. The problem was they were playing a bunch of new stuff that many people hadn't heard. I did love the 20 minute #41 with Bela though!
