He replaces Shaq in the all star game. UGH, the West has successfully added two centers now that don't deserve the bid, and are not having all star years.

    I hate this game!

Divac is pretty good. I can't think of a WC center that has been more productive or is more deserving. He got in because of a dearth of talent at center, but that's not his fault. I wonder though if starter's replacements start or if the coach can have Robinson start.

The article states that Adelman decides who replaces Shaq in the lineup.

I think the outcome even surprised Divac. [IMG]

I just think that, since this is an ALL STAR game, that all stars play in it. Neither Robinson nor Divac are all stars currently. I think you put the 12 best PLAYERS on the court. But, what do I know....

I believe they did the right thing in naming another center. Granted Divac isn't a flashy player, but he is a good player (maybe not a bona-fide all-star though). If they just named the best 7 as reserves regarles of position then the Western conference is so loaded at F that you could have 9 forwards, 2 guards and 1 center.
Maybe Stevie will make it if Kobe sits out though.

I think Divac is deserving of this all-star appearance because he has probably been the second best center in the west so far this year.

"MAYBE"! The mas SUCKS! He has the second worst post up game besides Mutombo for a center. He definitely is no where close to being a center. I bet I could almost whoop his ass! [IMG]

Vlade's numbers have gone down as he has aged, but his fundamentals (especially passing) are excellent. Divac is more than adequate and fits the West team well. We all have our preferences and I would rather see a true 5 at the spot than moving a PF in for the game. Makes you wonder how close Dream might have been if he would not have had the injury.

Fundamentals do not make one an all star. Hell, Joe Kleine has stellar fundamentals.

Second worst post up game for a center? Divac has a solid post up game, and a very good perimeter game. He can shoot the ball and he is probably the best passing big man in the league (with the possible exception of Sabonis).

Divac has no post game. Have u seen his sorry ass try to dribble and shoot that crappy hook of his? Yeah he is one of the two best passing centers. Yeah he has a pretty good shot. BUT THAT A$$HOLE DOES NOT HAVE A POST GAME. There are some stupid teams who insist on double teamin his sorry ass and they pay for it when he passes the ball. I would not double team his ass and let him try to take his man one on one. Yeah he schooled Collier, but then who couldnt? You think he can play against Hakeem or David or Shaq or Duncan. HELL NO!

I think that David Robinson is an All-Star this year. He has had MONSTER games, and has been a big reason Tim Duncan is able to have the games he has had. Divac is another story. You don't put Divac in because you need ANOTHER center, you throw Rasheed Wallace at center and the other big men you have like Webber. It's not like the East has any dominant big men or anything!

I would like to Puedlfor, but I don't know whose numbers those are. I am assuming the first set are Divac's.....

The second set looked like Francis.
I agree that Divac should not have made the team if they were going for the best player available, but if they were going for the next best center, he was a good choice.
