I mean WTF is going on here. I went looking to buy Toy Story for the boy and no one has it new. I went to Disney's web site http://disney.go.com/disneyvideos/andysroom/index.html and both Toy Story DVDs are "in the vault". Is this a real business strategy to not sell what your customers are willing to buy?
Disney has always done this to drive up demand, which is why people always frantically pruchase Disney videos when they come out.
What sucks is that they don't just put it in the vault, they make stores take them off the shelves and online stores remove them from stock. You can find it on Amazon, but it'll be only the "new and used" from individual sellers option. It's a very evil thing they do and I wish they would stop. Some people don't have kids when these videos are out and then when they do have kids, they are in the vault and the kid is deprived of the movie for years.
I was only practicing proceation until 3 years ago Wife bought a minivan and she was pregnant within the week, no lie.
they are probably repackaging it and releasing it in the future, no? Don't worry, I think they have more plans to make money off them.
The boy wants more Buzz Lightyear, like yesterday. And some assclown marketeer at Disney is thinking of ways to get their products in the top 10 weekly sellers list and not sell more product overall. I am officially rethinking that vacation to Disney World. As an aside, did anyone catch the Spinal Tap reference in Toy Story 2?
don't rethink the trip....seriously..my wife and i took my son when he was 2 along with my parents. he still remembers the rides...who he rode with...and different other random stuff. they have a buzz lightyear ride there that he still raves about. where are you staying, by the way?
Disney Contemporary hotel on the rail. (After a little rethinking, I reminded myself that I have already given Disney money for the trip ) Scott will be 3 years old when we make the trip so I think he might be old enough to actually appreciate the parental effort here
Cute kid No Worries. Disney is the all-time king of marketing genius, so I bow to their expertise. I'm sure if they thought they'd make more money by keeping their entire catalogue active, they'd do that. As is, there's buzz created every time they release another one of their old movies to video again.
Disney is the all-time king of marketing genius, ... and they let their deal with Pixar lapse. IIRC Disney last big splash in children movies was the Lion King back in 94-ish. It is like Disney never wanted their stuff in the bargain bins, so they pull product to avoid that. This is pre-internet thinking.
I didn't know that they'd let Pixar lapse. But even without making another movie, Disney rakes it in. Don't tell me parents won't buy their kids Cinderella, Snow White, The Lion King, Aladdin, Bambi, Little Mermaid, Fantasia, Winnie the Pooh, etc. etc. There's always a new generation of kids to market the same movies to.
Somebody photoshop Scott into various pictures of Disney World. "As an aside, did anyone catch the Spinal Tap reference in Toy Story 2?" Zurg's gun goes to 11.
