Just saw this on the MTV homepage (look on the right hand side of the page...
    MTV.com )

"DISH NETWORK Has Threatened to Take Away MTV
Dish Network subscribers call 1-800-333-DISH now and tell Dish Network that you want to keep MTV!"

They were also trying to run a crawl on MTV tonight, but Dish Netowork caught on and blacked it out.

Anybody know what this is about???

Dish network and Viacom are apparently in a pissing match about fees, I saw the same thing for comedy central, nickelodeon & cbs.

I saw that crawl on MTV using TimeWarner Cable. It mentioned that Dish Network was threatening to pull channels like MTV, Comedy Central and others.

If that is true, then it sucks. Already Dish Network doesn't have the NFL package, IIRC. The only reason I have Dish at home is for the foreign channels.

The hardest thing will be living without BET.

I assume they'll eventually work something out. Viacom's crawl is a plot to get subscribers to complain to DISH and hopefully pressure DISH to cave in to Viacom's demands.

I do think it's funny that DISH is blocking out the crawls.

The only reason I have dish is that my apartment complex was already pre-wired for it.

They said if I HAD to, I could get DirecTV installed... but I figured why go thru all that trouble just for NFL Sunday Ticket (the only major difference).

Plus, Dish was giving away free DVR's.

I really hate cable disputes... I still remember the Yankees/YES and New York cable companies disputes... imagine not getting to watch your beloved team AT ALL for a major part of the season.

And for the inevitable poster who points out, "This is why you should get cable...," don't think for one second that these problems are limited to satellite alone... in fact, these are probably the reason why cable is so expensive.

The only time I ever lost a channel was during a dispute between AT&T Cable and FOX. They took FOX Sports Southwest off the air for a couple of days, right at the beginning of the baseball season.

Really? I didn't realize it was so close at hand, and I figured an 11th hour deal would be made to prevent the channels going off.

I'm sure a deal will be made within a few days, though.

One thing I've been wondering for a long time because with the exception of TRL, there are no videos on MTV.

and TRL is a pile of crap.

When MTV2 lost its all-video format, I was so jacked.

Due to DISH Network and Viacom's dispute, DISH is giving a $1 credit this month for its subscribers of America's Top 60 and above. Wow ... thanks.

Seems Viacom wants to up what it charges DISH an increase of 40% over the length of its contract, which would be four times the rate of inflation.

    Crud!!

I have Dish Network and I turn on the TV this morning:

    No MTV
    No VH1
    No Comedy Central

But worst of all, no Noggin or Nickelodeon channels.

Im going to call Dish Network and let them listen to my 7 mo. old screaming because he can't see Moose A. Moose and The Tweenies.
