We were the clear winners in that trade. I feel bad for l.a. getting fleeced by Morey.

lin has thanked the rockets fans and moved on time for everyone else to do the same. any further discussion only brings out the negative element and lately it's been great coming to the site it's been nice not having to see the back and forth bs over lin .....not sure at this point why this is even a topic on the board.
water under the bridge, lets move on.

    Well... my question is this.

Did Morey and Bosh discuss the possibility of Miami giving him the max?

If Bosh said, 'Even if Miami gives me the max, I will still sign with Houston." Then Morey did his job well. Because it was obvious Miami was going to try and keep Bosh, even if it took overpaying him, to mitigate the LeBron disaster. Plus, players obviously use offers to leverage better deals. Once Morey offered Bosh all he could, Bosh used that to leverage Miami.

If they did not discuss this and there was no verbal agreement such as this, Morey failed in an epic manner.

    It is really that simple.

    Because of Lowry and Dragic.

Lowry and Dragic left Houston and blew up into superstars. The question remains though, were they being held back by Houston or did they just happen to peak after leaving Houston.

If Lin does well this year it will prove that it is Houston's coaching and system making point guards look bad. This will have tremendous repercussions.

    1. No star point guards will come to play here.
    2. Morey will look bad for implementing a coach and system that hurts star players in such a fashion.

So... we are all going to keep an eye on Lin next year to find out once and for all if we are in a situation where our players are being diminished. A 'the whole is less than the sum of its parts' scenario.

Well, this is how I feel at least. I can't speak for others.

It is already known that Bosh gave no guarantee of coming to Houston, and that Morey was warned of the 5th year Miami option. He had no choice but to move Lin, and he would have moved Asik earlier too if he could in order to have a chance in acquiring Bosh.

What a r****ded statement. Gordon Hayward is 24 years old. Parsons is 25. Both of them have already proven themselves to be versatile players. How can you be so sure that they won't live up to their contracts?

If Lin were a RFA today, nobody would sign him to an 8mm/year contract. In this offseason, better players have already been signed for cheaper.

This is a lie Lin fans have been perpetuating to excuse Lin's ineptitude during his stint with the Rockets.
The truth is all three of the players you mentioned actually came into their own as Rockets.
As much as Lin fans hate to hold him accountable, the immutable truth is that his failures are his own.

Where are you getting your info?
As I understand it the Rockets were the team receiving cash and it was nowhere near the $8 million you keep citing, especially considering the max cash limit is $3.3 million.

I dislike you sir. Rockets Basketball just got better. Players who can actually not threes unlike the bromance guys who air ball or just jack up too many.

how is that taken to the cleaners? lakers get a late 1st rd pick which means nothing to rockets and have to pay 15mil to lin.

This trade is good for both sides - Rockets with the cap space and Lin with a new environment. The picks were needed to make the trade work.

    This.

I would rather spend a draft pick to get rid of Lin than potentially waste it on some project.

    Excellent move by the Rockets.

This stupidity again. Lowry and Dragic became much better players while they were here, and continued to develop when they left. This whole line of thinking is just excuse making.

He dropped bible proverbs suggesting he was disrespected

Instead of keeping his mouth shut cause it wasn't a big deal

Or he could have manned up and say it directly without the sneaky Christian proverbs

Anyhow it's just insecurity on his part. His number 7 is not a retired number so it's fair game

That's not the reason. Some pundit revealed that the Lakers were under a time pressure and kinda made an ultimatum. At that time, Lakers offer was 'much' better than 76ser' and Morey was almost sure Bosh were gonna sign here. If Bosh were to sign, he'd still wait for the Asik transaction to complete first.

There are so many lies and misleading statements in this thread.

Brooks, Lowry, and Dragic all became the players they are now with the Rockets. Brooks floundered after leaving Houston. Went from MIP in Houston to scrub everywhere else. Now he's a decent back up pg. Lowry became great in Houston after rotting on Memphis' bench early in his career. Dragic had a break-out season in Houston. Hell even Beverley went from being an unknown player in Europe to being an All-Defense NBA player because of the Rockets.

So basically, stop with the bull****. The Rockets have done an amazing job developing point guards.

In terms of whether Houston's system holds back PGs, I don't think you could say for any of the 3 players you mention. Lowry got sick and couldn't play. Dragic's contract was up. Lin had a skill overlap with Harden.

Even if Lin blows up (which at this point is unlikely). Morey will deserve a lot of the credit for first seeing his potential to be a solid player in the league beyond Linsanity.

what the Lowry/Dragic success stories show (and what, if Lin succeeded, would be again confirmed) is taht Morey is exceptionally good at identifying good PGs. Like really really good at it.
