Hi Guys, I just wanted to let loose on how great the NJ Nets management is looking. Since the new owner has come in, they seem to be on the right track (however it is still early days). I know they are persuing a GM, and Pritchard is in interview discussions. While I hate the guy for prying Roy away from us, you can't argue that he is a top-tier GM along side Morey, Buford and Presti. Anyway, assuming Pritchard signs with Nets, I think we have the eastern conferences version of the Houston Rockets, in terms of a great front office. I'm hoping they succeed as I have never been a fan of any Eastern teams. Maybe the Nets can be my first. Am I the only one who can see this, or do all the CFers here that are very well educated in NBA business agree with me that the Nets are looking great for the future, and possibly a stand-up organisation much like our beloved Rockets?
I think Pritchard (assuming he's their guy), will do a decent job at assembling talent, but they've kind of already been doing that. But he's the best available "free agent GM" out there. The organization is certainly looking better (but ANYTHING is an upgrade from last year). They're already getting out of that ****hole in the Meadowlands and into a very nice arena in Newark. Brooklyn is going to be buzzing when they finally get to town. The team certainly has the opportunity to go global with Prokhorov and being in the "mecca" of basketball. They're still going to have to find a star to be the face of their franchise for when they get to Brooklyn.

He didn't pry Roy away from us. That was Steve Patterson. And I can argue that he isn't a top tier GM. He didn't draft Roy or Aldridge. He hasn't drafted particularly well since those players joined the team. His free agent signings haven't been anything special and his only decent trade was for Marcus Camby. He's not a bad GM, but he's nowhere near the caliber of the other GM's you listed.
Didn't The Mavs look good after Mark Cuban purchased them I think it will take time to level out before you know how they will be Rocket River
Mavericks have been a consistent playoff teams and contender in a lot of years. They fizzled out early in the playoffs last year, but before it started, a lot of people penciled them in to challenge the Lakers. Did you remember what Dallas Mavericks were like before Cuban? If this Russian guys does as much for the Nets, their fans will be really happy.
Way too early to tell. We need to see who they end up signing and at what value. Talks a good game. So does Leonis in Washington.

They haven't done a damned thing other than to serve as plan G leverage for players/agents that have no intention of going there - by that measure the Rockets are doing a bang-up job as well.
The Mavs haven't won a title under Cuban's watch, but how many teams have? More importantly, do you remember just how BAD the Mavs were before Cuban took over?
