Nowitzki suspended one game for hitting Harpring NEW YORK -- Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks has been suspended one game without pay for striking Utah Jazz forward Matt Harpring in the face, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations. Nowitzki was initially charged with a Flagrant Foul Penalty Two, which carries with it an automatic ejection. The incident occurred with 9:50 remaining in the fourth quarter of Utah's 97-88 win over Dallas on Friday, December 26, at EnergySolutions Arena. The Jazz bring out the worst in some other teams just like they do the Rockets. If this had to happen to anybody, may as well be Dirk.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm glad Dirk hit Harpring in the face. Dirk may be a flopper and a whiner, but he isn't the dirty piece of **** that Harpring is. Every piece of white trash on the Jazz roster needs to be shot.

I hate Harpring and Kirilenko much more than I hate Dirk. Plus I need his production for my fantasy team.
AK47 should be a marked man by the refs. They should make an example of him and not give him any calls for the next 10-15 games. It should be open season on the jerk to teach him a lesson.
Choosing between the lessor of two evils is tough on this one. I'm glad harpring got hit but i'm also glad dirk got suspended.
Harpring needs to be taken out. Anyone else catch last night where he hooked and held Brooks' arm and pulled him to the floor? Brooks couldn't use the arm to brace himself or slow the fall so he gets pulled down by a 250lb Harpring and lands square on his right shoulder. That could have caused a very serious injury. I was on fire when I saw that.
agreed...well, maybe not from the league, but there should be an increasing level of punishment for flops like this. 1 game first time 3 games second time 5 games third time 25 games fourth time rest of season, including playoffs, thereafter ideally without pay. calls are reviewed after the fact by a group of league supervisors. pretty simple. i guarantee you flops will stop, or seriously seriously lessen. Dirk is a flopper himself. None of those issues on the play in questin were really dirty by the Jazz, just them playing hard and physical, and Dirk being his usual wussy self and not liking it. But the AK47 bit at the end, though not directly relevant, is ridiculous and would make me want to hit someone, too.
Yea I went too far not a life time ban. But this is getting real old and what makes me so mad is the refs always fall for his flops I really don't get it. A blind man could see that was a flop in that video. Why aren't the refs catching on to his flops?

Yup, I saw that. It was malicious. There was intent to cause harm yet nothing will get done about it. Brooks could have been hurt badly. The league just keeps ducking this crap.
