Dirk Nowitzki is opting out. Can we make a run at him?

Yes. I'd take him over Bosh.

Not sure if we would. He's no spring chicken and defensively he's somewhat of a liability. On the other hand, he's a hell of an offensive weapon and would fill a glaring need. Wouldn't be a bad second choice if Bosh ends up elsewhere.

However, I think the point is moot. This opt out (if it turns out to be true) has a lot more to do with locking in current NBA rules on player contracts that might be less lucrative than a potential future contract once the league and union hammer out a new collective bargaining agreement.

Cuban talking about Bosh probably bugged him....I can't blame him though.....it is the time to do it.

I will take Dirk over Bosh. I think Dirk and Yao will play well together. Dirk has the range and Yao has the post game.

if the mavs even get lebron there getting him of a sign and trade. the mavs will give clevland nowitski because i dont think clevland wants anyother mav. so we officialy have no chance at nowitski so just focus on if we get bosh.

After LBJ and Wade, Dirk will be the best player available. The only upside Bosh has over him is age.

Dirk is better than Bosh in almost every way.

And probably will be for the next 3 to 4 years.....

If Dirk opts out and refuses to go back to the Mavs it is guaranteed that Cuban will refuse to do any sort of sign and trade with us. Period.

Cuban would help him out go somewhere else (maybe) but most likely not on the western conference. I would expect Dirk to have to take one of the teams with available cap space though.

Is this board against every free agent signing with the rockets?

Bingo! MC is not even for the slightest second considering trading him here. We have no money for a max player, therefor you're not signing him. /Thread over.

Ive heard he is only doing this so his new contract with Dallas will have a no trade clause. Not sure of the validity.

Rockets can do a helluva lot better than Dirk.....

The guy will blast his teammates when they lose and he's softer than T-Mac...

Dirk is the power forward we have always needed. He fits adelmans system like a glove. I would prefer Dirk over bosh fo shoo.

Yet he's been to the Finals, won an MVP, and has been injury-free for his career.

How exactly can the Rockets do a helluva lot better than Dirk? Bosh doesn't want to be here either.
