AT&T trying to cater to cord-cutters, but there seem to be some gotchas in what's available, like no CBS, and local channels only in some markets. I won't be giving Dish Network any of my money in this lifetime if I can help it, so SlingTV is out as an option for me. They're also apparently offering their 109-channel package for $35 for a limited time (I think you get to keep that price forever). Any opinions? http://variety.com/2016/digital/news/directv-now-full-channel-lineups-1201930124/ http://www.directvnow.com
7 day free trial. go try it out. being able to add HBO for $5 is very good. Will be curious to see how much they charge for NFL Sunday Ticket once they start offering that. you also get a free appleTV or amazon firestick if you sign up sometime soon i think.
I waited for the reveal to decide between this and Playstation Vue. I went with Vue. If DirecTV Now would've included Root Sports then that probably would've been enough to make me strongly consider it.
The lack of Root Sports and the inability to have more than 2 streams are the 2 main reasons I won't switch to it.
I will likely get it, but I am holding out for an Xbox One app (or the last day of the introduction special). I am using SlingTV on my Xbox One with a Hauppauge TV tuner coming in through my input for local HD channels. If I get a FireStick or ChromeCast I'll lose the local input. However, if the rumors that AT&T will be providing a free AppleTV or ROKU HD as incentive, I may just the ship for one of those and use those as my input for my Xbox One. I really like the local over the air HD, as I can watch Texans game without a 5-10 second delay. No way I give up my Xbox One as my media center. With Plex, Netflix, Amazon Video, HBONow, ESPN, NFL App/Sunday Ticket, Groove Music, and more - all with voice commands, it is the perfect media device for me.
Its appleTV or Amazon Firestick you get for free when you sign up. Its not a rumor. You can go sign up now and get it.
I am wondering if the contracts between Root and the teams prohibit streaming and that is why it's not available. It might take a while, until the next broadcast deal unless they have a way of amending them.
Picked this up yesterday and cancelled my TWC. Prepaid $35/mo for the first 3 months and got a free 32GB 4th gen Apple TV coming my way.
It's the standard deal they have on their site. $35/mo for the 100+ channel deal is a limited time offer, but you get grandfathered in to that price.
