mine too. i studied his work in film school. i was rarely a fan of his movies (i found most of them boring, with a few exceptions) but i was allways a fan of his directing. much like my thoughts on JVG. :p

    who are your top 5?

    mine are:

    Kubrick
    Tarantino
Lee (stupid Knicks had to hurt Snyder)
    Altman
    Spielberg

A friend of mine worked on M*A*S*H and had some great stories about making it.

    Great Director.

Damn He was one the last mavericks. Truly great artist. Like Pauline Kael said, it was either hit or miss with this guy. But when he hit his movies lingered. McCabe & Mrs. Miller is my favorite.

    Terrible loss.

mine as well. i liked cookie's fortune too. I didn't see his last one though.

I went to Hofstra University in Long Island and majored in film production. If you just wanted a specific school for film, I would recoment the New York Film Academy. They have campuses accross the counrty and I hear good things from there.

if you want to work in film or tv then you really don't need to go to school for it. most of the jobs treat you as if you know nothing anyway :p

Robert Altman did a lot of different things. He even directed some episodes of Bonanza.

He was a good director. I liked The Player, Gosford Park, and MASH was really good too.

Another celebrity death that I didn't see much about on here was Adrienne Shelly.

She deserves her own thread, but maybe there was one and I missed it. Her death is mysterious. So sad.
