Looks like he may come available. I would love to have him. He is better than Landry. We could then move Landry in a deal??? Landry/Battier/Brooks future #1 for Rubio??
Better than Landry? He hasn't done much in this league and he is in his fourth year. How did you conclude he is better than Landry?
He's still potential pretty much. Hasn't proved himself with the Warriors, Pacers, Blazers, or even the Kings. So to say that we can replace Landry with him, is like when some people said we can replace Landry with Dorsey.
I am big Diogu fan. Everytime he gets minutes, he produces really well. Last two games of the season he had 28 and 32 points. If the Rockets trade Landry, he is someone I would target.
No, didn't see him much because he didn't play enough. I've seen his game before going back to college though. He is a better offensive player than Landry. He is a player that has to be doubled or accounted for because of his ball skills. He can shoot, dribble drive, post up, jump hooks, spot up jumper, pull up off the dribble jumpers, the whole gamet. He is a very talented offensive player, a greater skill set than Landry has, specifically when he has the bball in his hands. Yes, I know, somebody is going to say he is a ball stopper. And I agree to a certain extent he is. But he is a very effective scorer and he draws a ton of fouls with his moves to the basket. I would gladly take him as a replacement for Landry and I think the opportunity may be there go get him for a contract similar to Landry's, using part of the MLE. That would make Landry available to be moved in a trade for a true big man or for a scoring/defending wing.
I've seen JJ Reddicks game going back to college too. Doesn't mean I thought it was going to translate to the NBA. Saying Diogu is better than Landry is pretty stupid, especially without any supporting facts behind. "Well I saw him in college and I've seen him before and he was good!" Just a really weak argument. Landry has been in the NBA, gotten significant minutes, AND contributed significantly on both ends of the floor. Ike has struggled to find minutes on four teams, three of those being lottery teams. I think it's pretty safe to say he is not better than Landry. If you're advocating that we could trade Landry and he'd be a good fill in that's one thing; but to flat out say he's better than Landry is ridiculous.
Thinking Diogu is better then Landry, although wrong, is one thing. Thinking the Rox shoud give up two starters, their top back up big man, and a future number one pick for Rubio is completely ridiculous.
I am saying he is a better offensive scorer than Landry. He is a greater offensive threat than Landry. And they are comprable defensively as neither one of them has the best footwork. By the way, Redick's game is translating nicely in the NBA and you can expect him to continue to be more effective. I was one of the ones that knew he would be a solid NBA player while others were saying he would be a bust and continued to say he was a bust when he was injured as a rookie and not producing. Diogu has gotten stuck behind some good rotations until he got to Sacramento late last year. Look at the teams he has been on. Look back to his rookie year in Golden State. And look at the efficiency in his offensive game when he has been on the floor. You have to be able to see talent before it grows up. He hasn't grown up yet on the NBA floor because he has not been in the right situation. You will see it too late after he has already played the minutes and proven his worth and is seeking a contract for $40 million over 6 years or whatever. He is comparable to Landry and would make Landry expendable, especially if we could sign him for a reasonable figure of $2-$3 million per year for 3 years or so.
I don't know what Diogu used to be, but he's chump change now. He does OK in scrub time, but against opponents' rotation players, he is awful. Landry is much better. I watch the Blazers a lot and Diogu isn't very good. He couldn't even get ahead of Channing Frye in their rotation. I think during two stints in the season he was put ahead of Frye and was given meaningful minutes. Both times he bombed out severely and went back to where he belonged (on the end of the bench). Calling him a very talented offensive at this point in his career player is crazy. Diogu's place in the NBA is either (1) as a 12th man on a good team or (2) a rotation player on a very bad one. I'm not even sure he's fits #2. If he gets minutes on the Kings this coming season, it will be because they are pathetic again.
