I believe the Lakers and some other teams do this.

Basically they turn down the lights except for the court during the game. So the lights go down like at a movie theater and the focus is on the show/game.

Seeing how there are so many empty seats at the start of games I think this might help getting everyone into the game early.

Has anyone here gone to an arena where they do this? Is it an improvement?

    Good idea for us?

Plus the players might not see all those empty seats at the begining of the game.

    Great idea.

FSN finally looks decent enuf to watch..lets not screw that up. lol

if we turn down the lights, it's going to go back to the dark fuzzy broadcasts.

I never really noticed except at the Knicks home court, it always seems dark. Maybe if the fans can't see each other, they'd be more inclined to act a little more rowdy.

    Try it.

I've discussed this plenty of times before. I hate the current lighting scheme. It looks horrible in person and worse on TV. Either make it completely dark or brighten it up. But considering Toyota's are dull, bland cars to begin with, it only makes sense to portray the arena the same way :(

So if it was Ford, GM, BMW, Ferrari or something like that, then Maybe the arena would be exciting?

    That logic doesnt make sense.

I don't know why LA darks out the arena. I want to see these fake breast, and reconstructed nose.

I think having a bright arena like Arco or AA would be better, cause then the road teams can see all the rabid fans bearing down on you...and yes I know TC doesn't exactly have the loudest fans in the lower bowl, but still, when we're winning (like we are now) the place is pretty rockin.

lol and Why is FSN's volume so damn low. I am gonna be the sore thumb and say i hate the lighting idea.I think that can take away from your homecourt advantage. I know that all NBA players are used to playing in front of large crowds, but I think having fans visible only helps at home. BTW, that stupid lighting eerks me, and just screams nike commercial.

actually only the lakers do it, and they JUST started doing it this season, so if we did it, we would be copying them big time.

I thought they did it at the old Compaq Center?? Maybe it's just me, but when I went back then it seemed a little dark.

Ya but you gotta leave the lights on for the Red Rowdies to disturb opponents so at least we have home court advantage.

gotta do it. when players go out and see empty seats => no energy. u want excitement.

thats why its the coolest to watch games (even if the knicks play) at MSG. the focus is on the game. it's exciting.
