Ben Gordon Offered $5.5 Million Per Year by CSKA Moscow
    By Dime Magazine

Ben GordonThere’s a chance that Ben Gordon’s name could be the latest addition to the list of NBA talents invading Europe for fatter pockets and more significant burn. The only difference this time around is that if Gordon does sign the offer sheet from CSKA Moscow, he’s not going to be making a Josh Childress-esque jump in his tax-bracket.

The big problem right now is that CSKA hasn’t matched Gordon’s pricetag. Earlier this summer, Gordon rejected a $6.4 million qualifying offer from the Bulls, and made it explicitly clear that he wanted something that matched Luol Deng’s $70 million penny for penny.

    low ball offer from moscow.

they need to exceed the qualifying offer from the bulls. otherwise, why wouldn't he just re-sign a 1-year deal there?

Don't see him getting that kind of offer from an NBA team.

    So long Ben.

I don't know what's funnier. Ben Gordon believing he's actually worth $70 mm or the fact that he would entertain in playing in f'in russia!

I could understand going to a European place, but correct me if I'm wrong (because I really am just basing this on stereotypes, which is quite fun) but Russia still IS a ****-hole right? I highly doubt the fact with Russia having basketball teams makes it any less of a ****-hole.

Unless you just get wowed by a multiyear offer, a 1 year off in Russia Ben? Take the 1 year here and live a pretty good life for that year.

Correction - I forgot he rejected the 6.4 from the Bulls.

Ok, I really have no idea where he ends up....

Damn from rejecting a 10mil offer to having to take MLE money. Even overseas teams aren't about to stretch their pockets for him.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with taxes.

$5.5 million net(since european teams pay taxes), would be about $9 million gross from an NBA team. No way he gets Childress level money, though.

At least, I think taxes would be paid. Why else would he leave for a 1 year MLE level deal?

How long is a season in Russia? I could see him doing it if it's comparatively short.

Wow, nobody gives this guy enough crap for putting himself in the position he's in. Just because he doesn't have some "Gotta feed my family, yo" sound byte nobody seems to make fun of him for turning down $10M/year and ultimately entertaining an offer like this.

That having been said, I don't care where he ends up in the NBA --- just so long as he stays in the NBA. Like Childress, he's actually in his prime and could start or be a rotation player for an actual GOOD team. The NBA doesn't need to lose a talent like Gordon. Sure, he's replaceable but he's also no Bostjan Nachbar.

He probably things averaging 20 points a game while doing absolutely nothing else entitles him to a max type contract.

Ben's stats two seasons ago: 21 pgg, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 45% FG, 41% 3pt, 86% FT in 33 mpg. Now he can't even make as much money as Josh Childress? Talk about a turn of events...

    dude

Shane is one of my favorite players, but going around posting that link in every thread is kinda frowned upon.

make a thread if its that important to you. I'm pretty sure Shane doesnt care.
