If you wanted one aging equatorial African to be your center would you choose Dream or Dikembe?

Before everyone immediately piles on Dream, recognize that he's playing much better than he has in the past 2 years... and that he doesn't look like he'll be habitually injured this year.

Dikembe... can rebound like a madman and is a great shotblocker. Dream can still block like a monster but his boarding is hampered by his 25mpg (if I were watching many games I could give a better excuse, I'm sure). Dream's ability to create his own shot somehow makes up for the marginal difference in rebounding as well... if you're always shooting the ball (instead of relying on others) then you're probably less apt to get as many offensive boards.

Dike also hasn't been past the 2nd round ever...

I'm getting yelled at about dinner, but any thoughts?

Starting from scratch, you would probably get major arguments for either Dream or Mutombo. Right now, Dream is in a much tougher conference. I give the edge to Hakeem for his shooting range and ability to steal the ball. Also, Dream still has good postup skills which much be respected even if it's not Dream from 1994.

For where the Rockets are at this point in their history, Dream is clearly more valuable. He is usually a quiet leader and those rings and championship banners speak volumes to the younger Rockets.

If you're talking about a long term type of deal, Olajuwon no question is the better center over their career. But unless Mutumbo keeps up this really bad pace, which I don't expect him to do, the majority of teams would have him right now.

Dream's ability to score at will is severely hampered. He no longer can go off for 30 or so any given night. He's seemingly lost the ability to get any rebound he really wants due to less hop in his legs. Mutumbo's big body can still clear out and get the big rebound and swat the big shot like Hakeem used to, at least last year, I haven't seen him much this year.

I think the majority opinion is that Mutumbo fetches a lot better talent right now than Hakeem does.

Thanks for posting this topic, Achebe. I've been trying to think of some way to get CBrownFanClub to grace us with an appearance. I suspect CB will clamp down on this if another person says Dikembe is good.

This is an insult to da Dream. Of course Hakeem is better. Dikembe is a waste of talent.

Achebe -- I could be wrong (I haven't checked the stats), but before the Seattle game I don't think Hakeem was blocking much of anything. I don't think he had one block in the preseason.

he's a waste of talent? i did not know that God had a bowl of talent and had to pace himself and not give too much to one person

anyway you are saying that he DOES indeed have talent, therefore it isn't an insult to dream.

Heypee, what do i adress the money to? [IMG]
