So I've been thinking about something this season, and I figured it was high time I mentioned it to the BBS.

Deke came back to the Rockets. He had offers from other teams willing to pay more. And he wanted the extra money -- Deke wants to raise another $2 million for his foundation. He comes back to Houston to a situation with one star quitting on his team in Toronto and another hobbling around on an ankle the size of a football. There's no real rotation, and Deke's had no significant minutes.

I want to let Dikembe Mutombo know he made the right decision. I do not want him to regret coming back to the Rockets.

That's when I decided it would be really cool if we had a ClutchFans drive at some point in the season to benefit DMF. When you donate in PayPal, there's an option to include special instructions. How cool would it be if we all donated a few dollars and included a phrase like, "From ClutchFans" with our donations?

Any amount you can afford would be great. $1, $10, $50 -- it doesn't matter how much. Every little bit helps. And wouldn't it be awesome if you could match your contribution with a little donation to the tip jar (I don't want to take away from the BBS donations)?

Anyway, the above poll is just to gauge interest in it as an idea. I think that if people are into it, we should take a specific date or couple of days (his birthday is in June, so that might work) to do it. The poll isn't public, so be honest. If you can donate, awesome. We all know the economy is bad, so no one will look down on you if you can't.

Great initiative !! That way we as fans can show our appreciation, even if it $1 like you said. Maybe you or any1 who everyone believes is trustworthy can set up a separate paypal account so we can donate. Then all the money can be donated at once to the Mutombo foundation, although they do not accept paypal. I've tried that but it's not an accepted form of donation.
I would however suggest you donate it before the season ends to show our appreciation now. Anyway, I'm all for it and I think every member here, regardless of their situation, can donate at least $1. Nobody in here is as poor as the people are in the Congo who really need it more than we do. So don't be greedy and give something to the needy ;)

It's all for the better, for a good cause and for the amazing person Deke is and has been for the Rockets. Let's show our appreciation this way, I can't think of a better way. Again, great idea and I'm all for it.
