So... I'm getting the TV/internet package from Time Warner at the moment, but they've screwed up my installation order twice already (these guys can't get my order for an extra cable box straight) and I'm rather frustrated with them. I'm considering just telling them to go screw themselves and get Direct TV's TV/Internet package instead. Never had satellite TV before... any difference between the two in terms of quality? The price aren't much different in my area as far as I can tell.
Wait till comcast gets to town. You think Time Warner reps suck, well once you get to know the friendly faces at comcast, you'll be begging for time warner to come back.
I haven't had a problem with TW reps. Most of them are pretty friendly, if you know what the problem is and you just need someone to replace something. At the actual store, where you go to replace the modems, cable box etc..yourself- they are nice, but usually there is only one person working there so the line gets kinda long.
I have had Time Warner for the longest time & have been pleased with them for the most part, nothing really major to complain about. I am finally purchasing my own place and they have a contract with TV MAxx so i said screw that....I will have to make a switch to directv or dish network and move over to DSL...it will be a change but let see how it goes.
Satelite is slower.....not in speed per se, but you have to bounce UP to the Satelite and then down to the earth, creating more lag. It is especially noticable if you play online FPS games, otherwise...no issues. DD
Yeah, that is their ace in the hole.......for sure. I had Direct TV for 7+ years, and even cracked the box for a couple of them to open up all the channels.... Ah, those were the good ole days--- H Cards rule ! DD
I had direct tv before and i wasnt impressed at all of course the channels look better because of the digital quality but the number of channels that they boast most of them are the same channel in a different time zone and they make you pay for nba tv overall i think time warner is better (oh yea and their fsn channel is the Dallas programming)
Just remember DSL SUCKS..... Get Road Runner or any other type of cable internet service.. Hands down Cable internet is 3 Times faster than DSL.
depends where you are. i have dsl now. i switched from roadrunner. there is no perceptible difference at all. certainly not worth paying 2x for.
I don't use satellite for internet but satellite is slower. And you know where it sucks? It sucks when I'm trying to chat on Clutchfans during the game. I'm always delayed by like 2 seconds. Everyone would be like, YES YES YES WE WIN! and I haven't even seen the shot yet. So I don't even both to get on chat anymore. Sucks.
For the longest time i thought that to but i think DSL is slowly catching up in subscribers due to their cheaper prices. The condo that i hopefully will be getting is not serviced by Time Warner and i can't get road runner (which i have had for the longest time) so i have to swith to DSL 12.99 for 750 - 1.5 down 17.99 for 1.5 - 3 and for 6mb down its only 27.99 which is much cheaper that roadrunner. I don't play many games online like i used to, mainly surfing and business stuff so i think ill be happy with that.
Yeah, I was a TW Road Runner user for about 4 years. I switched to DSL now and get the same DL speed but twice the upload speed. It's at 768kbps versus 384.
TWC installation for my parents was a nightmare. They screwed up porting of a phone number, and it took almost a month to get cable TV and Roadrunner installed. Their cable TV freezes occasionally, even the analog TV. My friend has Dish Network and I was impressed with the number of channels and image quality. My parents are likely to switch to satellite. Are any of you able to get naked DSL? I considered switching away from Roadrunner, but once you add in the cost of a regular telephone line, there doesn't seem to be much difference. I'd rather have Vonage than regular telephone service.
Comcast does suck...Glad they're gone, but Cable costs way too much...I'll be looking into Dish as they have more HD channels, or at least that's what I understand...
