Last night's team and strategy seemed a lot different than what we've seen so far this season. Some of the things I noticed were: 1. JVG not calling every single play and not being as vocal. He seemed to let the team just play and feel out the game a bit more. He started to go back to his usual self in the second half, but not nearly as much as usual. He was in his seat more (like last game) and wasn't trying to correct all our mistakes each possesion. 2. Yao not playing on the perimeter as much. On offense he wasn't setting the high pick as much (only for Tmac a few times). On defense he wasn't trying to go out and guard the pg's and having to recover down low again. His movement was much more efficient, and he looked way more fresh througout the game. 3. Going with a small lineup more often. Did Deke even play last night? When Yao went out, JVG used a combo of Stro and Juwon in the frontcourt rather than bring in Deke. Could've been due to matchups, but it seemed more like a little experimentation with a small lineup. Overall, it looked like a completely different team. The offense and defense were different. It still seemed like we lacked an identity, but maybe this was the beginning of our team trying to find themselves since whatever they were doing before just wasn't working. Could some of these changes be the "big" changes that they said were coming up?
this is good change for YAO and if so, he can be effective more than 36 mins. Also we won last night game by our D. O-side, still not very good
I noticed this as well. Yao seemed to play closer to the basket on both sides and was less winded and more effective over all.
Nice previous post, I agree with what I also saw, and with I see now replaying the game. However, I don't think the D was all that great in the first quarter. The Celtics got open shot after open shot. They missed most of them. I think the Rockets D improved in the second half.
Let`s hope so because he only has one way to go...up...better. If he moves one degree backwards he is gone
The main difference was the Celtics playing horribly. Those guys most have went clubbing the night before, especially Raef, Pierce and Davis.
