    1st Round Mock 2001

    For lottery analysis-
    http://www.clutchcity.net/mockdraft.cfm?xMockID=935

    1 Washington : Eddie Griffin F
    2 L.A. Clippers : Kwame Brown PF
3 Atlanta : Shane Battier SF
    4 Chicago : Eddy Curry C/F
5 Boston (via GS) : Pau Gasol F
6 Memphis : Jason Richardson SG
7 Houston (via NJ) : Joe Johnson G/F
    8 Cleveland : Rodney White F
    9 Detroit : Sagana Diop C
10 Golden St (via Bos) : Jamal Tinsley PG
    11 Boston : Loren Woods C
12 Seattle : Zack Randolph PF
13 New Jersey (via Hou) : Richard Jefferson SF
    ---------------------------------------------
14 Golden St : Tyson Chandler C…unbelieveably slips out of lottery; Golden St may improve most in this years draft.
15 Orlando : Vladamir Radmanovich F…a bit of a risk, but could pay off in the longrun; multiple picks makes it easier to gamble for the Magic
16 Charlotte : Michael Bradley F/C…best available C that can step in now; need frontcourt help badly
17 Toronto : Troy Murphy PF…Raptors decide they just want to try and outscore opponents to win; helps replace A.Davis
18 New Jersey (via Houston) : Trenton Hassell SG…need a big man, but don’t like any available; Hassell can play if Kittles doesn’t fully recover
19 Portland : Brendan Haywoode C…Blazers think they will have found a Shaq-container, but are they in for a surprise(BUST)
20 Cleveland : Joe Forte SG…too good to pass up, and Jackson may not be back
21 Golden St (via Bos) : Jason Collins C…get a C to plug in for a year or two when Chandler is ready, or at least until they sign another one
22 Orlando : Omar Cook PG…solid PG; might put a little pressure on Armstrong
23 Houston : Ken Johnson C…fill in need at C with this pick, should blend well with the team
24 Utah : Steven Hunter C…need C and SG, Arenas tempting, but one look at Ostertag changes their mind
25 Sacramento : Sam Clancy PF…backup or replacement to C-Webb
26 Philadelphia : Gilbert Arenas SG…no one may be more happy than AI with this pick; Arenas = relief
27 Memphis : Ousmane Cisse C…Grizz staying really young; Cisse could be a big steal
28 San Antonio : Gerald Wallace F…more athleticism; SA can run half court with Duncan/Robinson or run with D.Anderson/Wallace.

Possible 2nd round steals: Jeryl Sasser PG, Kendrick Brown F, Jeff Trepagnier G, Samuel Dalembart C, Alvin Jones C, Kenny Satterfield PG, Terrence Morris SF

Trades- GS #5 to Boston for #10,#21,future considerations(pick)

Houston #13,#18 to New Jersey for #7

Give me Rodney White if he drops as far as you have him. He is stronger and a better rebounder than Johnson, I've heard he's got the athletics to play the three, offensively I think he would match Johnson. He's not the ballhandler that Johnson is, but our guards usually are taking care of that.

I really couldn't decide whether the Rockets would take JJ or White if they traded up. I personally like Johnson better, but Rudy may not.

And I really don't see how much further White can move up. I see 7 as his highest point, unless MJ trades down to 5. Griffen, Brown, Curry, and Battier are top 6; Richardson is either #4 or #6, and if Gasol is not 5 it is probably Diop. Thats 6 players right there that White would have to be picked over, don't see it happening.
