C'mon. That one's not even close. "Die Hard" changed the way Hollywood viewed action movies: no longer did the hero have to be some muscle-bound goliath. It could be played by a comedic actor (remember, before "Die Hard", Willis was primarily known as the funnyman from 'Moonlighting") and the character could be an everyman, a NY beat cop, who just happened to be in the wrong place at the right time. Add in the four Oscar nominations (how many did "First Blood" get? Zero), Alan Rickman chewing up every scene he was in, and not one, but two of the greatest on-screen jerks of all time (William Atherton and Paul Gleason) and "Die Hard" wins in a landslide. In fact, it gets my vote as the greatest action movie of all time. John McClane FTW!
Die Hard would beat First Blood, but at least it would be close. The original post gave me the impression that we were comparing the franchises though, and outside of First Blood (and possibly the new Rambo movie, I never saw it so I can't judge) the Rambo franchise sucks.
Die Hard in a landslide. But I'll give the Rambo franchise credit for one thing. When it was resurrected recently, unlike Die Hard, Stallone and the producers didn't p-ssy out and go with a watered down PG-13 version.
Oh, YEAH? Well, Rambo had... it had... ummm... you know... that guy... uhhh... damn. Yeah, Rambo sucks.

I dunno...Bruce Willis is oozing blood from every part of his by the end of the film, but still manages to kick ass and save the day. Now, John Rambo may be a Green Beret, but no way he beats him easily. I'm calling it a draw. As for the franchises, Die Hard easily. Rambo has it's moments but cannot compare. Also, I'd prefer Die Hard over Lethal Weapon just because it has more action...but it'd be close. And it's funny how closely those franchises mirror each other. Both were considered a trilogy until one more sequel was made past the franchise's and the characters' prime. The first film in each rocked, the second film was good but probably the weakest of the original trilogy, the third felt slightly different from the first two both totally rocked and the unnecessary fourth was a pretty abysmal failure.
Not sure when the last time some of you guys have seen First Blood, but it's actually a really good movie with an unbelievably dramatic ending. I know Stallone isn't known for his acting but his speech at the end of the movie is really good stuff. I call it a DRAW.
Well, let's see: Die Hard vs. Legal Wreckin - Both revolutionized their respective genres(action and buddy cop movies), but Die Hard is a superior film. Die Hard wins. Die Hard 2: Die Harder vs. Legal Wreckin 2 - Both are absurd in terms of plot, but Legal Wreckin 2 wasn't a rehash and did a good job with character development. Legal Wreckin 2 wins. Die Hard With a Vengeance vs. Legal Wreckin 3 - DH3 starts off strong, but completely falls apart in its 2nd half. LW3 is just dumb fun from beginning to end. I'll call this one a draw. Live Free or Die Soft vs. Legal Wreckin "Bore" - Both are lame, outdated attempts to cash in on once proud franchises. Die Soft 4 completely neutered itself with a studio-imposed PG-13 rating and had one of the worst villains in a major action film in recent memory. LW"Bore" was a hard R, but also had such sophomoric humor that it bordered on self-parody ala Loaded Weapon 1. Despite John McClane being in his 50's, Die Soft 4 made him into an indestructable superhuman killing machine. Meanwhile, LW"Bore" went a little overboard with Riggs now being "too old for this sh-t". I'll call this one a draw as well. End result. A draw between both franchises. May they rest in peace(or pieces after #4).
No contest..>Die Hard rocked...Its one of my favs of all-time..>I bought the DIe Hard 4 pack on Blu-Ray a couple of weeks ago...very nice.. Yippie Caye mofo...
Die Hard vs. Big Trouble in Little China John McClain vs. Jack Burton Jack Burton would dominate imo.
Dude, not only does Rambo get shot and still keep on truckin', he freaking lights his bullet wounds on FIRE. He would own McClain.
C'mon man, they didn't call it DIE HARD because Bruce Willis is a p****. Plus, in Die Hard II he beat a whole squad of green berets. Granted, they were villains and couldn't hold a candle to Rambo (except maybe Col. Stuart) but still...all I'm saying is they're both tough as s*** and would probably end up killing each other at the same time, Rocky/Apollo style. You forget about McClane and the shattered glass scene? Maybe a good thread would be to tally up all the injuries each character sustains
