That the rocks were currently the second or third best team in the western conference after the Lakers. Getting props from a national source. Unbelievable!!! I know Doung is a dufos, but he paid the rocks a complement.
During that comment, he said right now. IOW, Spurs w/o TD and Parker. But it was nice to hear. Guess we can't sneak up on the league any longer!
No, he's wrong, Yao Ming is struggling so automatically that means Van Gundy and the rest of the team don't "get it" which means we are not a good team. At least, that's what some people would have you believe.
Don't be too excited. We played against four bad teams. NJ is generally not bad except it is currently with two starters; and so it could lose to Indiana at home tonight. At most we are equal to Indiana.
Wins are wins, stop pulling the "it was against crap teams" card. If u can't see that the Rockets are an improved team ( much more than alot of posters think) than you just dont know basketball.
YOU BE QUIET, I Laugh at YOU! NEED TO get clue that selfish guards francis is not ever do you anything to your team. Have much Lottery fun next time Rocketsfans Yao THE BIG MAN going to leave soon!
doug collins may not be the best coach in the nba, but he is one of the best analysts and commentators. he's on point with this one.
Do you have to make fun the Chinese immigrants language while you make fun of Yao only fans? The two are not mutually exclusive and yes, I do find it to be a little insulting. If you only know how much I struggled with this language initially.
Hey hey, overeaction. Actually Chinese people don't talk like that, even in English. Most of the time it is the non-Chinese that prefer talking in that way. So don't "match the number and sit at the seat". You know what I mean?
Do you guys realize that from David Aldridge to Bob Costas to Dr. Jack Ramsey, have all spooken on record that Doug Collins is without a doubt the best color commentator in the NBA and probably in history. I am not talking play by play here so I don't want anyone coming in and saying.. what about Costas or Albert.... I MEAN COLOR ANALYST.. These guys.. and i know because I am an aspiring broadcasters do the most homework on the teams. SO when something like this comes out of Doug Collins mouth it is something we should take to heart. The team is playing well and they arent even playing to their full ability. This Rocket team SEVERELY underachieved last year. They SHOULD have made the playoffs. Now with avn gundy getting these guys to play defense we are without a doubt one of the better teams in the NBA. We still need to get better stop turning the ball over and make better shots and get YAO more involved.. but this team is on the right track. I think it is great that all 3 Texas are good. We may not win the championship this year but Van Gundy has these guys beleiving they can win.
So, in short, you mean we should take betting advice from Doug? In that case, he should talk more often.
im not sure i would say Yao Ming is exactly "struggling" he is in the top 10 in a bunch of stats in the nba. and he is also improved his ppg, steals, and blocks this year already.
Collins is a good TALKER. That's about it. We know he can't coach, otherwise he would not have been fired three times during the last two decades.
True, Yao does have some great stats, but since he isn't the league leader in every category, something must be wrong. I mean, why else would people be complaining despite our success in this young season?
Doug Collins begins his second season as head coach of the Washington Wizards, having engineered an 18 game turnaround during the 2001-2002 season. Collins is a seven-year veteran of the NBA coaching ranks, having coached Michael Jordan and the Bulls in his first job as a NBA head coach and three years with Grant Hill and the Detroit Pistons. He compiled an overall record of 295-242 and he took his teams to the playoffs his first five years as a head coach. Collins began his NBA coaching career as head coach for the Chicago Bulls, joining the organization on May 23, 1986 and coached the Bulls for three straight seasons. He coached them to their best record (50-32) in 15 years during the 1987-88 season. He also brought the team into the playoffs three straight seasons, losing in the Eastern Conference Finals to Detroit, 4-2, during the 1988-89 season. In his first year as the Pistons head coach, Collins engineered a franchise record-tying 18-game Pistons turnaround in 1995-96, guiding Detroit to 46 wins and his first playoff berth in four seasons. In the following season, the team won 54 games, the third highest total in Pistons history. The 1996-97 team also set a Detroit all-time record, winning 40 games in just 53 tries, a mark faster than any team in Pistons history. Collins won his 200th NBA contest on December 15, 1996. 1986 Chicago 40 42 .488 0 3 .000 1987 Chicago 50 32 .610 4 6 .400 1988 Chicago 47 35 .573 9 8 .529 1995 Detroit 46 36 .561 0 3 .000 1996 Detroit 54 28 .659 2 3 .400 1997 Detroit 21 24 .467 0 0 .000 2001 Washington 37 45 .451 0 0 .000 2002 Washington 37 45 .451 0 0 .000 TOTALS 332 287 .536 15 23 .395 Who ever says Doug Collins cant coach is not very smart. He was not given a fair shake in Washington. Plus his coaching style did not fit that team. Yes he has made some mistakes but he is a very smart basketball man. Not just a "talker" Have some respect for people who know basketball a heck of a lot better than any of us do. Courtesy of NBA.com
shhh....don't listen to that hogwash....everybody and their grandma knows the odds are stacked against the Rockets as far as making the playoffs.
I seem to remember that it was the crap teams that beat us last year. Plus we won back to back road games, which we didn't do all last year. JVG IS leading us to the promise land.
reverse psychology... i like it. why not pull the "against crap teams" card? yeah, the rox are improved, but the nugs and bulls don't qualify as the upper echelon in the nba. the loss to the grizz wasn't bad considering how hube has turned them around. when we beat the mavs on thursday, i'll get more excited. jj's gonna have a field day.
