Did you guys see JVG tore up his game plan paper on the bench?

I was watching the game last night on Utah's TV broadcast, so I caught this. I don't know if they showed this on Houston's broadcast or not.

In the closing minutes of the game and we were surely going to lose the game to Utah, JVG was watching the game on the bench, he quietly picked up his game plan paper and tore it up, and then quietly put the pieces down on the floor.

You can tell he was simply crushed inside. He was winning at halftime, then Tmac left (for good reason), and he lost. You have to feel for him. The guy has tons of pressure on him, then his top three players are not available most of the times, and there is nothing he can do. The guys works hard with the cards he's dealt, but it simply isn't enough.

This is a tough season for everyone so far. For the coaches, players, fans, the whole organization. However, let's not give up hopes yet.

There are two NFL teams that were dealing with difficult circumstances this season. One is the NO Saints. Their city got destroyed, and they are dealt an extra away game. What did they do? They collectively turned into a giant crybaby. They used their difficulties as their excuses for doing poorly on the field. They are mostly healthy, but they play like crap. Where are they now? They are in the tank and praying for Reggie Bush.

The other team is the NE Patriots. More than half of their starters went down. For a few games, their roster is filled with CFL players. At home, they got brutalized by their whipping boy in the past --- Peyton Manning. Their season was slipping away. In that Monday night game, you saw Tom Brady was sitting on the bench with his head tilted back and that demoralized look, which is exactly the same look that JVG had last night when he tore up his game plan paper. What did they do after that? They gave up and started dreaming about Reggie Bush? Brady + Bush certainly sound good... No way! They kept fighting, and didn't let the injuries become their excuses for losing. They hang in there tough in the standing. And as more players came back from injuries, their season is turned around. Now, they are sitting pretty as the winner of their division, and the Cults are sweating as hell, because they are going to face the Pats again in the playoffs.

I hope we pull a New England Patriots this year. No, we will not win our division. However, let's hang in there tough, and sooner or later when both Yao and TMac get back, the Mavs and Spurs will sweat as much as the Cults are doing right now.

JVG tore up his game plan, but let's hope he didn't tore up his own faith.

You can't really compare us to the Saints...totally different situation. Their team wasn't all that talented to begin with, and they lost their star halfback.

There is a white light at the end of the tunnel for this Rockets team...we just have to make sure we find a way to grab a playoff spot. Once we get these guys healthy, particularly Yao, Alston, and Barry, we'll be a very dangerous team in the playoffs. If we can get Sura back, that helps even more.

Van Gundy lives and dies with every win/loss. He lives and breathes the game of basketball, and while he's coaching this team he lives and breathes it. It's going to take a little patience this year, especially after such high expectations, but all season I've felt that once we get our pieces meshed together we were going to be lethal. We just have to get guys back on the court.

There's only so much you can do with the lineup we have. Even with just one of our 2 superstars missing, we are no better than McGrady's orlando team. Our offense is predicated on having both superstars in the lineup, so when one goes down, it really screws up the game plan and changes everyone's comfort zone.

I can understand JVG being frustrated, but he needs to chill and save his energy because there's no way you can win a game without both T-mac and Yao (not to mention the other half of the team).

i feel for van gundy cause i think he's a great coach and alot of this season should it continue to slide will fall on his shoulders. he's not really working with a full set of nba players.

JVG should put McGrady's wife in the doghouse.

All we need is the 8 spot. JVG got the Knicks to the Finals from the 8 spot. And our team is a hell of a lot better than that Knicks team.

That's a ridiculous comparison to compare the Saints to either the Rox or the Pats. Its not that the Saints are just injured or lack talent but they've lost they're whole damn city. They haven't had one extra road game they've had nothing but road games.

Seriously this is comparing someone who lost their home to someone who's having a bad day at work.

I think that Knicks team that year when they came around during the playoffs might be better than us. They had a healthy Alan Houston who seemed like he couldn't miss, Spree was healthy and younger. In my opinion the Knicks point guards were also better than the ones we have now. The front court even though they were lacking in some area's played with heart. They hustled for rebounds and blocked shots. I can see Yao and Mcgrady stepping it up, but there really is no one else I can put faith into on our team. We need help badly if we want the Knicks of 99 miracle to happen to us. I hate to say this but our acquisitions the past offseason just sucked. We really did pick up just a bunch of fools gold!
