Shaq's quote on Yao before today's game: ''Great guy, great person,'' O'Neal said of Yao. ``I wish him well. I just wish for one game, he'd play me one-on-one so we could see the shogun kill another ninja. But [today], when they plays us, they're going to front and back and double and triple some. But great guy and great player. I wish him well.'' I think Yao did a decent job during the game and most of the time he is going one on one directly with Shaq, no help from the teammates, yet he still got Shaq in foul trouble and outscored Shaq both in points and boards. I really wonder what Shaq will say after this game? Tough loss but as long as Sura's finger is ok, Roxs shooting the wide open 3s at a reasonable percentage, I am optimistic that Rox will be in the playoff and we may even get into the 2nd round if playing Sonics.
The tables definately turned today. Were those some of Shaq's teammates doubling Yao a few times, or was I just seeing things?
You must remember - One of the reasons for lakers to lose several games last seasons, including playoffs, was that Shaq's refusal of needing help on defending Yao. Again, as many ppl said, neither of them can defend the other alone without fouling out.
Isn't it great to see Yao and Shaq going mano-a-mano against each other without using dirty defense tactic's---It always makes for enjoyable basketball. Too bad Shaq was in foul trouble--because the other clown who came in with no basketball skills see fit to beat up Yao knowing there'll be no consequences, what a shame!!!!!!
It means nothing. It isn't a tennis match. It's a basketball game, 5 players on the floor. I'd take Dominique against Bird in a game of one on one too, but I wouldn't want Dominique on my team. I'd take McHale, Maxwell, Worthy, and Rambis before I'd take Dominique.
