As a Rocket fan from China, I admit that Yao's consistent injuries (for the past 3 seasons and this incoming season) make me very unhappy. Please get well soon and never make it happen again, Yao. My expectation on our team was very high even when he was out in the playoffs last season.
I don't think anybody can be unhappy with him. Just look at game 1 against the Lakers. He's a warrior who works extremely hard. Too bad being a 7'6 giant doesn't make life easy on all the bones.
Obviously his injury's....Everyone on this site is here for the same reason, to win. I can't blame his injury's on him but if he continues to play for the China National Team I don't think he leaves much of a choice.
Considering the fact that he is 7'6, you have to know that injury risk is much higher. It is disappointing, but you had to be prepared for it. We can only hope he gets healthy and can complete a full season, including playoffs.
When he got injured I was very happy. My mouth curled into a high arching smile. I giggled a bit and this whisper of a giggle mutated into a roaring storm laugh. It delighted me that ol' #11 got all f ucked up. In fact, I fell over on my chair attacked by lightning bolts of hysterics! I then proceeded to dance a happy dance while mumbling "doing the happy dance..doing the happy dance..." Ah, good times.
It's frustrating and disappointing because you never want to see a guy injured but it's nothing against the guy at all. He is what he is, his body is not built for running up and down a basketball court for long periods of time especially if you throw in the fact that he plays for China over the summer. He's a hard worker and extremely talented for his size, but injuries are bound to happen given the amount of stress he exerts on his lower body.
It's always good to see the good and the bad with Yao's injury. The bad. He will be out even longer this year. The good. He will be out even longer this year and we will get a top draft pick, if we suck enough.
Its a little bit of both, really. Yao is an amazing guy though. No one can take away what he has done for the NBA. Biggest international player....ever. <br> Btw, steven_orgy? Really sir?? Really?
I would not mind trading Yao for a young Deke-like center. Yao is too slow, and too injury prone for us to afford his contract.
It's funny how people dont hate yao and want him to get traded cause hes injured and is about to get surgery but they want Tracy to freakin leave Houston becase hes injured. What difference is it from both those Houston Rockets stars. There both great players yet theres so much hate for Tracy
Before this years injury I was calling for a trade (arguing with the brother) before it happens again so we could maybe get some value off of him. Turns out, it happened again and now we have to keep him and I doubt anyone wants to take a chance on him. I sure wouldnt if I was a GM. Oy. I wanted to actually rebuild from scratch, instead of bandaiding and retooling. Its just delaying the process, unfortunately. Btw, if you couldnt tell, I am angry. Angry that he has to be injury prone and angry now that we know he's injury prone we cant get any value for him.
it doesnt really make me unhappy, but disappointed really. im just sick of him playing basketball all year long (summer with the chinese national team)
I'm a huge fan of Yao. He's a hard worker and is a classy guy. But he's becoming more and more of an albatros around the Rockets organizations' neck. I really would rather win championships with him, but I don't think it's wise to depend on him. Either ways, he made the Rockets relevant, and I wish him a speedy recovery.
