Hey Rox fellas! Catch & Shoot here in Austin. The game wasn't televised here. I've seen the replays on Sportscenter of Yao's turnaround, his block & him falling to the floor. I read he got dunked on. Did someone actually sky over him or was it a sneak-by type? I thought it would be a bit longer before he got one thrown down on him. YIKES!DID YAO GET DUNKED ON ALREADY??
it was the "come over late to help but have the media blow it up into something else" kind. nobody went straight up on him though i don't doubt it'll eventually happen. it does to everyone.
I guess they are talking about the Stephen Jackson guy ... he did dunk but every Rocket player was out of position on that play, Yao included. I wouldn't say Yao got ducked on.
After the game a reporter for SA talked about the "dunk on Yao" to Jackson. But I didn't see the game (listened on the radio) so I can't tell ya if it was worth it. Jackson didn't make a big deal about; i.e. trash talk. But, they Spurs did have a running bet who was going to dunk on him. But, they downplayed it. They know that Yao will get better and don't want to talk too much trash.
It wasn't a dunk ON Yao but I'm sure it'll get played up that way. He was far from the play on the opposite side,he came over to help but could only get as far as directly under the basket as Jackson was skying with the dunk. It wasn't like he was standing there the whole time or like he could've done anything about it. It happened on my end of the court....not even close.
KJ dunked on Olajuwon... oh wait, that was a different game... Yao didn't get dunked on. He wasn't in the play and didn't challenge the shot. I'm not saying that Yao will never get dunked on, but that wasn't it... sorry.
I remember at the end of the China vs. US game, Jay Williams was coming in on the fast break, Yao basically gave him the dunk (didn't challenge it, would've been a foul), and half the people in chat were out there screaming that he had gotten dunked on. I didn't see this game, BUT. If he had been dunked on, don't you think it would be all over the Spurs board? There's nothing about it. If he had been dunked on, don't you think it would be on the highlights, or in the newspaper recaps, or something? My guess is that some people here are just being paranoid...
Well, according to the ESPN.com article, it says that Stephen Jackson did dunk on him, and he says he definitely happy about it.
yao was one step late to swat Jackson. It was a quick drive to the hoops and Ming was a little late to position!
http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43680 and he did challenge the shot somewhat. he jumped and put his hand up, but jackson was just too high up there...
That was about the weakest dunk ON someone ever. Yes, Yao was close by but Malik Rose was in between Yao and Jackson. He basically just stuck his arm up there and tried to jump over Rose and Jackson went around him. It wasn't even close to a typical, in-your-face dunk over someone.
By all means, call it a dunk. Otherwise, everyone will be waiting for and trying for the first one. Too bad the game was videotaped...I'd just as soon tell the world he got dunked on ten times. Can we concentrate on basketball now?
damn who freakin cares! so wut if he did or did not get dunked on. everybody has been dunked on before.
Consider the fact that Yao was five feet away from the guy when he dunked. Stupid Spurs. It figures that they get all happy just because a scrub gets a clean dunk and Yao was just in the picture. There were people closer to Stephen Jackson (the guy who dunked) but of course the stupid media will blow it up. David Robinson better be grateful that he's retiring this year.
Even if Yao jimped, Jackson still dunks. There's such a thing as being too tall around the basket, at least that close. Jackson could pick his spots. Yao's hands would have been too high to block Stephen's dunk. Yao will earn though.
Yao was a little late getting there but he did get dunked on. So freaking what. He'll block a hell of a lot more then get dunked on so I hope other players keep chanllenging him.
