Everything pre-draft was about how Jameis Winston was the class of the qbs, a franchise qb that you HAD to take. After the draft, all you hear about is how GREAT mariota's been, how mariota is one of the most popular players in the league already. You don't hear a whisper about Winston. I'm just wondering if Tampa Bay had to do it over WOULD they really have passed on the duck.
They're not even in preseason yet. Can you at least let the dude take a snap with pads on before making the call?
I'm in the 'let them play' camp. Can we just let guys play before trying to anoint them. How many times does it take? This time last year, Bortles was being hyped. Maybe they both bust. Maybe they're both stars. Who knows. Maybe Mariota breaks his ankle in preseason (not that I want that to happen). You never know.
Winston sells himself in Florida. The Titans have no alternative but to talk up Mariota to try to get their fanbase excited for the season.
Mariota has never faced an NFL defense or been in a pro-style offense. I'm pretty sure "better" things were said about David Carr on the expansion Texans. I'd be cautious...
So Mariota was #1 in Jersey sales and Winston was #2, and that means everyone loves Mariota and Winston is forgotten? Must really suck to be Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, all way below the completely ignored Winston.
You're basing this assessment on JERSEY SALES, and yet on the very list you posted, Jameis Winston is 2ND. You're making it seem like there's this enormous rift between the two when in reality, there's hardly any gap at all. Plus, given the fact that you live in Tennessee, and all your opinions seemed to be based on what you hear in your little bubble, I'm assuming Mariota is talked about MUCH more than Winston. But you know.....facts just get in the way of trolling, right what?
