Did T-Mac refuse to come back into the game in the 4th?

This is just something I read somewhere else on the internet (mavs forum). I missed the game last night since I was on a plane. They mentioned something along the lines of JVG calling for T-Mac to come back into the game during th 4th but he waived JVG off and refused. Now I know it was prob a blowout at that point, but it just doesn't seem like something he would do. Can anyone who watched the game confirm this? Rockets2k, I know you examine your recordings closely, did you see such? If this is just b.s., go ahead and lock it up, just wanted to see if anyone knew. Thanks.

No...they were getting thrashed by 30pts, not making up any ground and have a game tonight so coach pulled him.

Don't believe a mavs forum. The rockets were blown out in the 4th, why would JVG ask him to go back into the game? Sounds made up by mavs fans to me.

yea, i just went to see if there were any objective opinions on what happened last night. From the sounds of it, it sounds like T-Mac went off early, Avery adjusted accordingly defensively, and T-Mac got no help.

Quick follow up question, did T-mac attempt to attach the basket to beat the double-team early? Or was he back to relying on his jumpshot?

20 with an entire quarter left? I think you still fight for a comeback. Especially when you have a player thats capable of putting points up quickly ( 13 in 30 secs).. I know its a stretch. If it was closer to 30, then I understand.

he tried to attack, post up, and use his jumper. the mavs did too good of a job forcing the ball out of his hands and defending him in the 2nd half.

Can't do that for more than a couple of seconds, or it'll be a technical foul.

    haha good one.

Well I saw one play where he took it hard to the rim, got hammered, and made both FTs but after that I think he resorted to his jumper twice and I couldn't watch anymore because I had guests over.

He was getting doubled before he even got the ball. It's not like he wasn't trying, but he was getting NO help. He didn't have much room to drive.

The thing is, he was getting doubled by the other teams center.

If Yao was in, that wouldn't have been possible seeing as they would have to double team Yao, eventually freeing up McGrady. We all know how deadly that could be.

It's ok, look for his leadership tonight against Charlotte, see if he can get his team to bounce back and take these two bad teams (Bobcats and Kings) before we have to play the Mavs again and the Heat without Yao.

if it came from a Mavs fan's mouth, it's likely to be BS ala Mark Cuban. They will say anything to trash another team or make their team look better without any objectivity.

it was time for T-Mac's rest and the game was already blown wide open. it would have been a miracle to not rest him at all and actually come back from that so there was no reason to put him in. JVG also had to think about tonight's game

I don't understand why Tmac still carries that malcontent image. People still have that image of him and look for things when there's nothing there.

He was never a malcontent here in Orlando and he will never be one. It was a media created myth. Tmac is a great guy. He may be a little brash sometimes, but he is a very unselfish and caring team guy.

Agreed. Most of the negativity surrounding McGrady stems from his departure from Orlando, and his subsequent fued with John Weisbrod, who was fired shortly thereafter. Why people ever attached any credbility to what he said is beyond me, but that's a big reason why people think McGrady has a bad attitude.

It doesn't matter, we were losing by so much anyway that there was no point in risking injury

 uh... i disagree 100%. are you kidding me?

i know we all need tmac, but that doesn't he can choose when he wants to "work" or not.

i doubt he did this, but if he did, you're all r****ds for giving him a free pass, blowout or not.
