There were huge crowds at the galleria and it got shutdown. There are huge crowds during black friday and other holidays, but usually they are ready for those. With all star weekend why were they not ready for the crowds?

I know in Austin they shutdown highland mall early once for Texas relay weekends.

Also a lot of shops close for Kappa weekend.

It seems like when there are large group of black people business seem to says no thanks.

The article stated that they were over capacity so they legally had to shut it down. Otherwise, if someone got hurt, they would have had to pay a lot of money.

The Galleria was over the legally allowed capacity. It's that simple. Either the mall shuts it down or the fire Marshall shows up to do it. The number of people there for the all star festivities was much larger than for holiday shopping.

It's just like how you can only have a certain number of people in a club or bar....if you get over capacity you dont allow anyone else to come in.

It's that simple, the Galleria considers itself a prime shopping experience, they wouldnt do something that would impact their image like shutting down just because of the race of their customers.

No way...it would impact their bottom line and that is ALL that matters to them.

How do they handle all those people on black friday? I would argue black friday is even more crazy. I went one year and literally people were being pushed through the door? So they don't care about security on that day?

Problem with your argument is your clueless. The galleria never fills up beyond capacity during Black Friday. Don't understand why you would argue something without knowing the facts.

I can guarantee you the Galleria on Black Friday was nothing compared to what it was this weekend. It was literally elbow to elbow crowded with a bunch of people just loitering around just to catch a glimpse of a celebrity.

The galleria welcomed all those people that went its not like they closed ahead of time. You have to shut down by law if your over the capacity. This thread is stupid and useless.

You could argue that but how can you prove it? Were you there when they shut it down this past weekend?

On the surface, as crazy as black Friday may be, I have a hard time believing it was worse, or even as bad, as Saturday night. I was at neither so I'm just speculating.

Hell Nah!!! It was for safety reason... If the place catches on fire, people would be trapped and more chaos will ensue...

I am not going to vote but as someone who does work in code compliance regarding maximum occupancy yes it is very likely the fire marshal could've shut down the Galleria if they felt the number of people exceeded max capacity.

Doesnt have to be a racial thing... Just a common sense thing.... If I owned the Galleria, I would have shut that mfer down too.....no matter what race was there....

There is absolutely no evidence that the Galleria was shut down because there were huge crowds of black people.

Do you even some proof that black friday has higher occupancy or are you just talking out of your ass?

Look, anything is possible, but I have seen no proof or even a suggestion that the Galleria closed down because there was too many black people.

Indeed, if the Galleria wanted fewer black people, they could have made it more difficult for the NBA all stars to make public appearances in the mall, which they did not.

And if there was a fire and people died, would race have been a factor in NOT shutting it down?
