I saw some pole on houstonchronicle.com saying that Drayton said we would catch the cards. Can someone like me to the article where he said this?

I don't know exactly where it is, but I heard the same thing myself. That's homerism at it's finest. We aren't catching the cards, but i'll be plenty pleased if we can win the wild card. Then, we get another matchup with the Braves in the playoffs. Deja vu all over again....

Don't take him literally; for all we know he could mean "catch the Cardinals" with regards to "catching" them in the NLCS. :D

I didn't say I blame him for being a homer, nor am I shocked that he would make a statement like that. Lord knows I don't expect him to say, " Well, we didn't go out and get a bat, so we'll probably suck down the stretch." I'm just saying that by no means to I take his statement to be one constructed in rationality, nor does it bother me if we don't catch the cards. I'd be just as appreciative of a run to the World Series via the Wild Card. But anyway, who knows if you are taking a shot at me or whatever....I'll live either way, I think. :D

He's doing what any owner would do. He is trying to hype up the crowd and get the city rocking again. He's a big homer....hell. SO am I.....I am dreaming of us catching up, but in reality I see us getting to the post season via WC.

Heck, didn't Les say that he had the best team ever assembled,or something to that effect?
For once I agree with Drayton though. We have strengthened our weaknesses to the point most are strengths now.
At 3B,Morgan has shocked me,by not only catching up to Major League pitching, but putting on this incredible power display.
In CF,Taveras has stepped in and is a ROY candidate, providing speed and balance to the lineup as well as the ability to cover that tract.I don't miss Beltran a bit as of now.
At 1B,Bags was a liabilty because of his injury and needed to be replaced. The production has been replaced by Lamb and Berkman.
On Lance,he seems to have recovered well from his knee...adding an all star.
At SS,Everett needed to get completely healthy from that broken wrist.Well,he's finally done that and looks good.
Roger Clemens has been lights out again...
Of course Biggio has produced way beyond most's expectations.
...and last but certainly not least,We add a healthy Andy to an already potent staff.A Big 3 that can stack up well against anybody in the postseason.I still wonder about that pen,but we're a well oiled machine right now.Besides come postseason Lidge will close the door for longer stretches.
Look,we all know the Cardinals have the lineup on paper, but if this team reacts well after this breather, there is no reason we can't have maximum momentum going into the end of the season and the playoffs.
great pitching,a balanced lineup, defense up the middle.and big mo.The questions appear to have been answered and then some.
