It is also amazing that people would go after Obama accusing him of being a Muslim to lose the race, which I find very offensive and discriminatory and it is even worse that he would go out of his way to prove to the people that he used to be one but now he is cured.
In this particular instance, McCain did the right thing. This woman wasn't asking a legitimate question about his ethnicity, she was using Arab in a way to imply that he was a terrorist or a bad person. McCain corrected that. He doesn't have to go out of his way to blow smoke up Obama's ass.
that was his rally filled with his supporters, don't you think that he has to go out of his way to explain to the public what his supporter is saying and correct her by replying with the right thing?
No, not really. He did the minimum required. Nothing more, nothing less. eta: son of a b****. I forgot I wasn't going to post in here again until after the election...geez it's easy to just wake up and get sucked into this crap, especially after a debate...oh well, time to try again. Off to the GARM
Instead of arguing with an obvious idiot, he changes the subject and says something positive. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this.
Of course there is something wrong with this. While he did the right thing in correcting the women he did not go far enough. it's like that Sienfeld episode where George and Jerry are accused of being gay. They vehmently deny it but always add the "...not that there is anything wrong with it." McCain should have said Obama is not Arab or muslim or whatever but even if he was there is absolutely nothing wrong with being Arab or a muslim and most Arabs and muslims are decent people. That would have shown true leadership.
Agreed Instead of saying "No mam, he's a decent family man whom happen to disagree with" he should have said "No mam, he's an American and a Christian."
It would have been nice, and the 100% correct response, but I don't fault him for not having the presence of mind to not think of saying that verbatim. He did what he could given the circumstances. Badgering him to do more is monday morning QB...
ummm, if obama had just accepted to tour the country with mccain, side by side, like in that film with jack lemmon, none of this would have happened. =/

I was not asking him to do more, but maybe less would have been better that adding more fuel to the fire. Correcting a misunderstanding by offending others is not acceptable.
It cracked me up when McCain choked up about John Lewis' comments. I loved Begala's line, if you want an apology go talk to Lewis. Why should Obama apologize for Lewis? Obama has been called worse at McCain/Palin rallies and McCain hasn't said squat. Boo freaking hoo he grabbed the mic from a bigot.
