So, I was having an argument with my friend on this play. He says that Lebron traveled when he hit that three at the end of the third quarter. I thought he was just hating, but when I looked at it again I he might be right. You can get a pretty clear view at the 0:53 mark. I just wanted to see what you guys thought.....

That was nice, too bad we would never see him go up against jordan.

    Sigh

Yes it was now that I look at it again.

On that video at :45 he has his left foot down right foot up and it looks like he is about to dribble again. But then he picks up his dribble takes 2 steps and shoots it. I didn't even catch this in the game

nba players travel all the time.

the most common one is when someone cuts to the 3 point line, catches a pass, lands, and then takes 2 more steps to set their feet without ever dribbling the ball and then shooting it.

eddie house does this a lot.

    why is this never called?

Yes definite travel but it's pretty common.

This is one of the reasons the NBA postgame is mostly dead. In the post, refs watch footwork like a hawk. Out on the perimeter the only time anyone is ever called for traveling is when they catch, fake, and then take two steps before dribbling.

The rules allow an extra step while gathering the ball, but you can't take two steps while pick up the ball and then another two steps. Travel.

Lets dissect every possesion of the game that Lebron is on the court for. We can break it down movement by movement and everyone can list their "what ifs" for each play.

It wasn't very obvious. He took the steps while gathering up the ball. I wouldn't call it blatant traveling if at all.

It was a travel. But it's not obvious enough to be called.

I'll forgive the refs for this one. Definitely less obvious than some of the other no-call travels that LeBron has gotten away with.

not a travel. The rules allow 2 steps after gathering the ball. It is written that way in the rule book. look it up.

Lebron clearly stopped dribbling and then took 4 steps to get his shot up. If he was juggling the ball after someone besides himself touched the ball, the gather would have been questionable. However that's not the case in that possession. He clearly gathered the ball then took 4 steps. Travel.
