Did Battier just call McGrady an "external thing"?

Well I'd imagine internal means things about the game, and not paying to external details such as injuries etc.. I think you're reading into it just a bit much.

 

Right after he said..

“We don't really talk about those things,” Battier said. “We've had so much adversity and so many guys going in and out of the lineup, it's as simple as whoever is in uniform that night and is activated, we expect that guy to come in and play hard and play the right way. I think it's a culture that is our locker room now.”

Which means they are cancelling out drama and aren't paying attention to anything outside of the locker room.

Don't get why you guys like to start things like this.

Carl H. has been known to create a few inflammatory threads.

 

Battier lied. Last Dallas game showed that they were affected by the external thing. That one was on TMAC.

 

I would think the infrastructure of the team as internal and junk like media and legal issues as external so it would make sense that the Yahoo/Target date drama would be external to the team HOWEVER I'd imagine they do see it as getting old after the same questions get asked about TMAC.

Yeah, too much is being read here. They don't pay attention to things outside the locker room as others have pointed out. They don't listen to what the media or anyone on the outside has to say. They're focused on who they have and the task that is at hand.

I doubt it if Battier meant that. He knows the limitations of the team,but he doesn't want the distractions of last year to come back again. If McGrady,comes back to near full fitness and can play consistently,he will be welcomed back by not only Battier but by Coach Adleman and the rest of the team as well.

When guys are playing sports at a high level, its viewed as doing a job. In college, we had guys sticking another guys gal and it was like nothing was happening. When guys got hurt, again, it was like nothing was happening. I'm sure the guys miss yao and tracy, but they don't sit around and cry about it. You go out and play with the guys that are there. Everything outside the lockerrom doesn't even matter.
