I was watching TV at work and saw that they devoted a minute to the Rockets. The caption at the bottom read "Falling Apart?". I couldn't hear what they said. Can someone recap?
They were trying to act like Ron Artest was going to destroy the Rockets based off his recent comments about Tracy's defense. Also said they have no shot winning a title.
Yeah pretty muched talked about the "feud" between t-mac and artest. Wilbon loves us on paper and felt we are a definite dark horse contender because of the current roster. But he also stated it's all about how well we start, and how long we maintain that success in order to prove the trade as successful. There wasn't anything new to be presented, just brought up the fact that Artest and Tmac are calling each other out.
Oh, and that Tony said Artest is the equivalent of T.O/ Pacman Jones. T-mac is a timid voiced leader and like T.O, Artest "attacked" him verbally. What a bunch of b.s. I see nothing wrong with Artest saying tmac's defense needs to step up. Even t-mac saw the video of the toronto gaming and realized he sucked.
So Artest calls someone out and hes a cancer? Garnett does it and they would "slurp" (PTI term) him like theres no tomorrow... WHATEVER
Comparing Artest to TO and Pacman, was absolutely ridiculous. Artest came out and said Tmac should just step up his D, he didn't give management an ultimatum or anything. Its clear that they are having problems, but this was blown out of proportion.
It's just another attempt by sports writers/sports media to make a story out of a non-story issue. The team is like family and has the same "fights" that families go through. I really doubt Ron and Tracy are feuding right now. I hope not, anyway.
This reminds of why I can't stand mainstream news.... It couldn't be any further from the truth from misrepresentation of facts. Ron Artest has been a saint on this team. He hasn't done anything close to what others, like Stephon Marbury, Terrell Owens, and the beloved Kobe Bryant has done. He didn't really call T-Mac, basically he just said pick up the effort. It wasn't like he was trying to make a spectacle out of it...that happens all of the time. It's a non-issue at best. The media too full of double standards...
These comments are actually a lot better than most people would think. I'm guessing most people don't realize T-Mac is better when um... he's motivated? Maybe. This is probably just a wake up call. Ron Artest is 1000% correct though, T-Mac needs to play defense.
I'm so sick of the media (I would say National media, but we have guys like Dickie Injustice right here in Houston who do the same exact thing) and they're misrepresentation of EVERYTHING. Basically, if they like you, no matter WHAT you say, it will be spun into "he's a great vocal leader who is rallying his troops" and if they don't like you, it's "he's a cancer that is tearing this team apart by his uncontrollable behavior." Someone else said it here......if this was KG saying these things (i.e. making Big Baby cry in a game), he would be deemed a savior, and breath of fresh air, but since it's Artest, this team is falling apart?? There is absolutely no credibility needed for these blowhards to go on air and just spit out whatever drivel they can come up with so viewers will feel like they have "inside knowledge." It's irresponsible journalism, and it is never going to stop as long as BSPN keeps catering to the needs of the lowest common denominator.
Seems that he was being very conciliatory to Ron's statement. It doesn't sound to me like he took it personally, just that Artest used the wrong words. Artest meant to stay that T-Mac just needs to set the example on D.
The problem with this whole thing is the media are not showing the whole quotes of both McGrady or Artest. When the thread first came out about Artest calling him out the OP didn't mention until the 2nd page that Artest also said that T-mac's knee has effected his defense. Seriously this whole things is definitely overblown.
yep.. last game tmac looked a lot different.. he was aggresive on both ends of the court and looked somewhat like his old self before the surgery.. so yeah i don't think he took it personally... they all want to win and it starts with everybody stepping up their game on the defensive end
typical sports guys makin up stories when they haven't educated themselves on the entire situation. too many WELL PAID sports writers are guilty of this
Becoming an annoying habit around here where people will start thread with misleading titles or only use a portion quotes to support their claims. Because of the injuries and knee jerk reactions gone wild we are getting all kind of silliness on that just clouds the actual truth of the matter.
